The World Cup keeps the city buzzing with fan zones and watch parties, and this weekend also marks Juneteenth, with celebrations happening across Los Angeles, including a Hollywood Bowl show headlined by Chance the Rapper. Metro has you covered. Here’s what’s happening.

LA World Cup 26 Fan Zone transforms The Original Farmers Market into a soccer celebration
The Original Farmers Market on Fairfax becomes a full-blown World Cup 26 Fan Zone through Sunday, with group stage matches playing on big screens, including USA vs. Australia and Mexico vs. South Korea. Beer gardens and more than 40 on-site eateries make it an easy place to settle in for a few matches.

DTLA Alliance and The Bloc host outdoor World Cup screenings on a massive LED screen
The Bloc turns it’s Plaza Level into the spot for soccer fans downtown, with a giant LED screen broadcasting two days of World Cup matches in an open-air setting. Bring a blanket or low chair, grab something from a Bloc restaurant and settle in. Check-in opens an hour before each match.

LA Dodgers host the Baltimore Orioles for weekend home series at Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers will a play three game series against the Baltimore Orioles with back-to-back games at Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park.

Ariana Grande lights up Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles Saturday and Sunday nights on The Eternal Sunshine Tour. Two chances to catch one of pop music’s biggest voices this weekend.

Family Field Day: Multiform brings drag artists, luchadores and art to The Broad
DJs, luchadores, drag artists and more come together for Family Field Day: Multiform at The Broad on June 20 and 21. Celebrating Pride, sports and art, the event includes daily rounds of Gabriel Fontana’s participatory sport Multiform as well as access to Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind with your ticket.

The celebration will honor Juneteenth through community connection, culture, and collective remembrance in one of Los Angeles’ most historic Black cultural districts. The Leimert Juneteenth Community Celebration will provide a space for residents, families, artists, vendors, and community members to celebrate this meaningful day.

Juneteenth Scavenger Hunt at the California African American Museum brings family fun to Exposition Park
For Juneteenth, California African American Museum is holding a scavenger hunt. Bring the whole family for an adventure that will take you through the museum’s current exhibitions with a board full of clues in this friendly competition.
When: 2-3 p.m. Where: California African American Museum, 600 State Drive, Exposition Park Admission: Free

Chance the Rapper headlines Juneteenth Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl
Some of music’s biggest names come together for a musical celebration of Black freedom and excellence, headlined by Chance the Rapper.

LACMA Block Party celebrates the opening of the David Geffen Galleries on Wilshire Boulevard
LACMA throws open its doors Saturday for a block party celebrating the opening of the David Geffen Galleries. An Art Parade marches down Wilshire Boulevard while DJs spin everything from surf to funk to cumbia, with activities for all ages throughout the day.

KCRW Summer Nights celebrates Juneteenth with DJs J. Rocc and Monalisa at the California African American Museum
Celebrate Juneteenth on Saturday, June 20, when KCRW Summer Nights heads to California African American Museum with DJs J. Rocc and Monalisa on the decks. The museum galleries will be open from 7 – 11 p.m., so be sure to check out exhibitions like Willie Birch: Stories to Tell and Free and Queer: Black Californian Roots of Gay Liberation.

Sunday, June 21
The Getty Research Institute hosts its first-ever Summer Solstice Celebration Sunday at the Getty Center, with live jazz from the Don Brown Collective, tarot readings and craft workshops. Visitors can also catch a rare glimpse of solar noon shining through the oculus inside the Getty Research Library.

It is the start of summer this weekend. But the weather isn’t feeling like summer. The weekend is going to be cool and cool comfortable. Friday will be the coolest day of the weekend with temperatures in the low 70s. For Saturday and Sunday, morning clouds will stick around to keep our temperatures cool. Expect partly cloudy skies on Saturday and Sunday with highs speaking into the low to mid 70s. Father’s Day is looking nice with plenty of sunshine. Next week, the warmth will return with temperatures in the 80s.
