Metro is updating its Public Participation Plan, a comprehensive document that outlines how we work with our constituents (you!) to make decisions about service, fares, and future projects and initiatives on our plans across LA County. And we want your feedback!
This plan is mandated by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under Title VI, a federal law enacted as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that is designed to ensure equal access to all programs and activities that receive federal funding. That includes our public outreach efforts, which must be inclusive, effective, and responsive to the diverse communities we serve. As a public agency, it’s our responsibility to design and build a transit system that works for you, whether you’re a daily commuter, weekend rider, or an advocate in your community. We know that it’s on us to communicate our goals and provide you opportunities to weigh in on everything from proposed changes to fares to service changes to project planning and public programs.
That’s why we’re inviting you to weigh in on our updated plan this June during our Service Council meetings. Each Service Council represents a specific region of LA County and provides local residents with an opportunity to engage with Metro staff, listen to our presentations, and offer feedback on local transit issues. Presentations on the updated Public Participation Plan will take place at the following Service Council meetings:
Marvin Braude Constituent Center, 6262 Van Nuys Bl., Van Nuys
Citrus College Board Room, 1000 W. Foothill Bl., Glendora
Metro Headquarters Building, 3rd Floor Board Room, One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles
Salt Lake Park Community Center, 3401 E Florence Ave., Huntington Park
Residence Inn, 2420 Marine Av., Redondo Beach
You can attend these meetings either in person or virtually. To attend a Service Council meeting virtually, go to metro.net/calendar and click the link for the specific Service Council. To provide public comment on the Plan virtually, please email servicecouncils@metro.net or view the agenda linked in the calendar and use the comment link next to the specific agenda item.
Written feedback is also welcome any time prior to the public comment deadline. To provide comment, please email communityrelations@metro.net with the subject line “Public Participation Plan 2025.”
