History is happening in Los Angeles this weekend. The FIFA World Cup kicks off across the city, bringing fan festivals, community celebrations and watch parties from Inglewood to Pasadena to Little Tokyo. L.A. Pride parade marches down Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday. And if that wasn’t enough, Ariana Grande, Shakira and the Blue Note Jazz Festival are all in town this weekend too. FIFA World Cup™ Comes to Los Angeles
Throughout the month of June, L.A. County will be buzzing with multiple World Cup fan and community events. We’ll highlight a few you go to this weekend. You can find the full list of World Cup fan and community events, here.

FIFA Fan Festival at the Coliseum
The FIFA Fan Festival sets up at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park for three days of music, culture, food and live match screenings. Featured matches include USA vs. Paraguay and Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, Brazil vs. Morocco and Haiti vs. Scotland on Saturday, and Germany vs. Curacao and Netherlands vs. Japan on Sunday.

The Wood Cup Global Games transforms the streets of Downtown Inglewood into a community celebration of the World Cup, connecting visitors with local culture and neighborhood businesses along Market Street. The evening kicks off with community programming before shifting into a full match watch party.

Team USA vs. Paraguay Watch Party brings World Cup fever to Pasadena Civic Auditorium
The City of Pasadena hosts a free watch party for the USA vs. Paraguay match Friday evening near Memorial Park Station. Fans and families gather for match viewing and a festive community atmosphere in the heart of Old Pasadena.

Kick It in the Park: Seoul International Park K-Town Watch Party and Festival come to Koreatown
Koreatown hosts a free World Cup watch party and festival at Seoul International Park Saturday, bringing the neighborhood together for a day of community, culture and soccer.

The Little Tokyo Community Celebration gathers neighbors and visitors Sunday afternoon at the heart of one of LA’s most vibrant historic neighborhoods for a free World Cup-inspired community event.

L.A. Pride Weekend
56th Annual LA Pride Parade marches down Hollywood Boulevard this Sunday
The 56th Annual LA Pride Parade steps off Sunday morning along Hollywood Boulevard, Highland and Cahuenga Avenues, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in one of Los Angeles’ most iconic annual traditions. Following the parade, the LA Pride Village opens at noon with live music, DJs, activations and a Family Zone through the evening. Metro is the official transit partner for LA Pride this year.

The Blue Note Jazz Festival returns to the Hollywood Bowl for two nights of jazz, funk and R&B to open the summer. Saturday’s lineup is headlined by Wyclef Jean and R + R = Now, while Sunday features Patti LaBelle, Gregory Porter and Samara Joy. Arsenio Hall hosts both nights.

KCRW Summer Nights offers a farewell evening at La Brea Tar Pits before its two-year closure
La Brea Tar Pits closes for a two-year renovation in early July — so Friday night’s KCRW Summer Nights is one of the last chances to experience the iconic Mid-Wilshire landmark before the gates close. The free after-hours event features DJ sets from Francesca Harding and Novena Carmel, plus food and drinks from the museum bar and local food trucks.

It’s shaping up to be a pleasant mid-June weekend across the LA Metro area, with warm temperatures, morning marine layer clouds and plenty of afternoon sunshine. Despite a slight cooling trend, most inland and valley areas will still run above normal for this time of year.
Friday is the warmest day of the weekend, with valley locations reaching the mid-80s to mid-90s and coastal areas settling into the 70s to low 80s. Here’s the wildcard for Friday: a weak area of low pressure off the Pacific coast is directing a shot of monsoonal moisture into Southern California. The bulk of any shower or thunderstorm activity is expected to stay south of LA County. However, there is about a 10% chance that enough moisture pushes north to bring an isolated shower or thunderstorm to the San Gabriel Mountains by the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday both follow the classic June Gloom playbook, gray and cloudy mornings giving way to afternoon sunshine. Temperatures ease back a degree or two by Sunday.
The pattern holds steady into next week with typical June Gloom conditions continuing, moderate onshore flow and minimal temperature swings expected through midweek.
