Another fresh weekend of events is here across Los Angeles. The Dodgers are back at home, Fiesta Broadway takes over downtown and CicLAvia opens up the streets of West LA. There is something for everyone this weekend, and Metro can get you there without burning gas or dealing with the parking headache. Here’s what’s happening.

Metro Art and Architecture Tour offer free guided look inside iconic Union Station
Metro Art hosts free 90-minute guided tours of Union Station this weekend, offering insights into the station’s artworks, artists and art-making processes while introducing visitors to the Metro system. The English-language tour runs Saturday, and the Spanish-language tour runs Sunday, both meet at the information kiosk inside the historic station. The active tour moves throughout the building with elevators and escalators available.

LA Dodgers host Chicago Cubs for weekend home series at Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers open will play three game series against the Chicago Cubs with back-to-back games at Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park.

Cal State LA Inaugural Car Show brings classic cars and community celebration to East Los Angeles
Cal State LA hosts its first-ever car show Saturday, bringing together classic cars, custom builds and modern favorites for a one-day community celebration on campus. Live DJ music, food vendors and exhibitor booths round out the free all-day event.

CicLAvia opens West LA streets for a free open street experience from Santa Monica to Westwood
CicLAvia takes over West Los Angeles this Sunday for a free, open streets experience connecting Santa Monica to Westwood. Walk, jog, bike, roller skate or simply spectate along the car-free route — all ages and abilities are welcome for the all-day people-powered celebration.

City of STEM + LA Maker Faire returns Sunday to the California Science Center in Exposition Park for a free, all-ages outdoor celebration of creativity, science, math and technology. More than 200 exhibitors from across California make this one of the largest maker events of the spring season in Los Angeles.

Fiesta Broadway brings one of LA’s largest free cultural celebrations to downtown Los Angeles
Fiesta Broadway returns to downtown Los Angeles for its annual free celebration of Mexican and Latin American culture spanning several blocks along Broadway. Live music, folklórico dance performances, lucha libre, food vendors, local businesses and family-friendly activities fill the street from First Street south through the heart of downtown.

La Plaza de Cultura y Artes’ Cinco de Mayo Family Day celebrates the history of the holiday with music, art, education and food on Sunday.

A comfortable late-April weekend is on the way, though you’ll want to keep a light jacket handy. Friday kicks things off on a mild note with morning low clouds and patchy fog near the coast, giving way to partly sunny skies by the afternoon. Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than earlier this week, settling into the low to mid-70s for most valley and coastal areas as an onshore sea breeze return.
Saturday is the unsettled day of the weekend. A weak storm system will brush through Central California, bringing plenty of clouds and a slight chance of light showers, mainly in the afternoon. The best rain chances will be over the mountains, and even there, rainfall totals look minimal — a tenth of an inch or less. Don’t cancel your plans but maybe keep an umbrella within reach. Highs Saturday will only reach the 60s, running 4 to 8 degrees below normal for this time of year.
Sunday shapes up nicely. High pressure nudges back in, skies clear out and temperatures tick up a degree or two. Expect a mostly sunny and dry day with highs again in the 60s, a pleasant way to close out the weekend.
Next week starts warm and dry, though increasing clouds are possible by Monday as a weather system lingers to the north. No rain is expected to start the week.
