Attention, LIFE participants! We’ve made some UX enhancements to our LIFE program, a fare discount program designed to help qualifying riders save on fares.

Instead of manually uploading your 20-ride benefit every month, eligible participants can now automatically opt in to receive their 20-ride monthly benefit uploaded to their TAP card when they enroll in the program.

The process is simple. When you reach Step 2 of the LIFE Online Application , you will now see the following prompt:

Didn’t opt in when you applied? No problem! Now, existing LIFE participants can also use their taptogo.net account to manage their autorenewal preferences. When you visit the “My TAP cards” page, you’ll find this prompt to opt in or out:

You can also call 866.TAP.TOGO to opt in for the 20-ride benefit autorenewal.  Keep in mind that you still have the option to load your monthly benefit manually by calling 866.TAP.TOGO, visiting a TAP vendor, or using your TAP account. Uploading manually may be ideal for LIFE participants who plan to purchase a discounted transit pass from one of 16 LIFE participating transit agencies.

  2. “UX” is not a great way of explaining this to the general public. It is internal jargon. And this is especially true for those that might be using this program. Web developers use UX, the average person that has low income does not use the term,
