The latest addition to Metro Art’s Through the Eyes of Artists poster series debuts on Metro’s fleet on December 9, 2024 with a special spotlight on Northridge as seen through the eyes of San Fernando Valley artist Sarah Stone. For over 20 years, this popular series has showcased diverse neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County, encouraging riders to explore new and familiar Metro-accessible destinations through local artists’ points of view. Northridge is the 69th neighborhood to be featured in the series.
Nestled in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Northridge is a lively neighborhood where culture, commerce, and community converge. Sarah Stone captures this dynamic spirit, resulting in a colorful, map-like illustration that highlights the presence of the natural world in everyday suburban life. In this poster, you’ll find a range of neighborhood landmarks frequented by locals –– the tranquil CSUN Orange Grove and duck pond, Soraya Valley Performing Arts Center, and the Museum of the San Fernando Valley –– connected via scenic bike paths. Welcoming viewers to this diverse community is the California Scrub Jay, a (very vocal) native bird.

Where to Get the Poster
The Northridge poster will debut on the Metro system beginning Monday, December 9. It will also be available, while supplies last, at the Metro Union Station Customer Center.
You can also meet the artist at CicLAvia – The Valley on Sunday, December 8. Look for Sarah at the event’s Reseda Hub (at Sherman Way and Lindley), where she will be signing posters from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
