A friendly reminder that change is coming to our system this Sunday, November 3! The C and K Lines are being reconfigured and the Aviation/Century Station is opening — the above video explains the changes.
That means the C and K Lines will look like this starting Sunday:

If you use the Mariposa, El Segundo, Douglas or Redondo Beach stations, the new Aviation/Century Station will be the transfer point between the C and the K Lines.
To recap, these are the four changes happening:
•The C Line will operate between Norwalk Station and the new Aviation/Century Station. PLEASE NOTE: this is temporary until the LAX/Metro Transit Center station opens soon — at that time, the C Line will run between the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station and Norwalk.
•The K Line will operate between Expo/Crenshaw Station and Westchester/Veterans Station, and between the new Aviation/Century Station and Redondo Beach Station. PLEASE NOTE: this is temporary until the LAX/Metro Transit Center station opens soon — at that time the K Line will run all the way between Expo/Crenshaw and Redondo Beach.
•Aviation/Century is the station to use to transfer between the C and K Lines. PLEASE NOTE: after the LAX/Metro Transit Center opens soon, you will be able to transfer between the C and K Lines at Aviation/Century or LAX/Metro Transit Center.
•The C & K Line Link bus shuttle will continue to connect riders between the C and the K Lines, with a new stop at Aviation/Century Station. PLEASE NOTE: the shuttle will cease operations once the K Line is fully open after the LAX/Metro Transit Center opens.
Helping riders find their way
We will have plenty of staff at C and K Line stations to help riders navigate their transit trips as we make these changes.
We’ll be monitoring ridership and service — and will make any necessary adjustments to help everyone get where they’re going as quickly as possible.
Why these changes?
We believe the new C Line and K Line routes will benefit the greater good because:
•There will be a direct connection to the Aviation/Century Station and the upcoming LAX/Metro Transit Center from all C Line and K Line stations.
•The C Line will become primarily an east-west route while the K Line will be a north-south route. We think that best mimics regional travel patterns and is more intuitive for our riders as the Metro system continues to expand in the coming years — we’re planning to extend the K Line south to Torrance and north to Hollywood.
The LAX/Metro Transit Center
The station is located at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Streets – and is the centerpiece of our plans to better connect local transit to the airport.
We don’t have an opening date to announce quite yet – but we’re in the final stretch of construction. We can run test trains through the station but not trains with riders until the station is officially open.
The station has a ton of rider amenities, including restrooms, a customer service center, public artworks, a bus plaza and pickup and drop-off area for those arriving by car.
Once open, the station will serve the C Line, K Line, and local buses run by Metro and other agencies. The station will also eventually be connected to airport terminals via the LAX people mover.
We know all this amounts to big changes, especially for longtime riders of the C Line. Ultimately, we think these changes are for the better that will serve more riders and offer more convenient transit access to LAX and the surrounding area.

It’s not obvious how you get to the airport – shuttle from Aviation/LAX or Aviation/Century?
The map above shows an airplane and “LAX Shuttle” next to the Aviation/LAX station.
But me, I’ll continue to drive to LAX.
You are correct, there is no one to let passengers know where to go. No signage or staff. Plus there needs to be a connector bus waiting at the last train stop for passengers going and coming to the airport. All the information staff is hanging out on the subway platform and are only available to passengers who come upstairs only to be told that they have to go back downstairs to catch a bus across the street. It is a mess.
When will the updated pdf schedules be posted?
When will the new timetables for the C, K and the C/K shuttle be posted?
Hi. In light of the operational change, will passengers going to/from LAX still access the shuttle from the Aviation/LAX Station?
Reminder: We are 4 days away from this major change yet no revised timetables of the c and k line to reflect this. Why are the new schedules not posted?
Are the new schedules going to posted before Nov 3
Hi Dale —
Sorry missed this earlier. All schedules are here: https://www.metro.net/riding/schedules-2/

Oh wow, you guys still haven’t posted schedules yet?
You do realize that this is quite a schedule change and instead of releasing the schedules 2-3 days you’re just gonna say “screw it, just run them?”
This Metro, is the number 1 problem you have. Putting the half baked projects and funding aside. Posting something as simple as an updated schedule should not be an issue at all.
Why can’t the K line train carry passengers and run pass the LAX Transit Center stations? The station is not fully completed but the tracks were completed already.
I would LOVE the C (Green) line to alternate between the LAX station (now Av/Century, but next year Av/People Mover) and Marine. That way you could offer a single-seat ride to many more users
For the First/Last mile to Aviation/Imperial Station, there is a two block section (Aviation between 118th Place & 117th Street) whose sidewalk is barely passable by pedestrians, and my wife must go out onto Aviation Blvd to get past it in her wheelchair. There is even a (redundant) light pole right in the middle of the narrow sidewalk between 118th place and 118th street
This new configuration is a big inconvenience to C-Line ridership that transits from Eastern C-Line neighborhoods to the work corridor served by the Mariposa, Douglas and Redondo Beach stations. Significant delays occur due to all of the track switching necessary for the trains to transition from the renamed K-Line segment to the Aviation-Centennial station. The future transition point even farther south at the LAX Metro Transit Center will add even time for Norwalk-Redondo riders.
Is Metro considering adding a shuttle bus from Aviation-Imperial station to the Mariposa station to better support these legacy riders?
My experience so far has resulted in me being far less interested in using the C-Line for my commute. It is no longer faster than driving and my car is far more comfortable.
First time ridership of new K line from airport. 1) Metro link bus let passengers off far away from the corner, instead of at the corner. Walked across the street to train, paid entry, went upstairs, got on train, only to be told that the train was out of service, walked across platform only to be told the train stop is not completed and everyone has to walk across the street and catch the 857 bus going east on Century Blvd. for one stop, the bus let us off in front of a strip mall, we had to walk from there to the entrance of the train, no signage to direct us from the strip-mall, distant was very long.
Many of us were challenged by the inconveniences and many others turned around and headed back to the airport to wait out the layover for their flight. This should not have happened.
1) The bus from the airport could have driven 50 ft to let passengers off to wait for bus 857.
2) Staff should have been on the ground level at the train station on Century so that we would not have had to go upstairs to come back down.
3) The 857 bus should have taken passengers to the train station and not at the strip mall.
4) The last bus stop was too far for people who are health or physically challenged.
5) If this is called improvements, all passengers should sue.
6) There needs to be an overhaul in hiring, the ones working don’t illustrate basic customer service skills. This has got to be addressed.
