Metro is making it easier to get around our region with the launch of a new mobile app that brings many of our digital tools into a single digital place. The app is free and now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play

The new LA Metro app is designed to simplify the rider experience — no more jumping between multiple apps is required to plan a trip, check for service updates or find key information.

The launch of the app arrives at the same time as Metro is introducing using credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay to pay fare at fare boxes and TAP validators; see this blog post. Both debuts make riding transit easier and more seamless — and improve the overall customer experience.

The app helps solve a problem that has bedeviled transit riders, many of whom rely on a mix of third-party apps and web tools from different agencies and companies. Research, however, shows that customers trust Metro as the most reliable source for service information — the reason Metro’s Board of Directors has pushed for a single app.

Friendly reminder: for personalized trip planning and other support, customers can call 323 GO METRO. For help with fare payment, customers can call 866-TAPTOGO.

The initial version of the app meets that need by delivering real-time information straight from Metro’s operational systems, including:

•Service alerts for Metro buses and trains.

•Trip planning for Metro and other regional transit providers.

•Key amenities on our system such as which stations have Throne restrooms.

•The locations of vendors where TAP fare products can be purchased.

•Metro Bike Share locations.

•Metro Micro service zones.

•The app also features multilingual support and accessibility tools such as screen reader compatibility.

Please note that for personalized trip planning and other support, customers can call 323 GO METRO.

For help with fare payment, customers can call 866-TAPTOGO.

Looking ahead, the app will continue to improve. Future updates will further integrate Metro Bike Share, Metro Micro and parking at Metro stations, along with features such as fare payment and better tools for customers to directly reach out to Metro staff with questions and concerns.

Point of emphasis: we want our system to be easy to use as possible in the digital age — for every day riders and the many people who will be visiting our region for the upcoming World Cup and the Olympics and Paralympics in 2028.

Download the app and give it a try: we’re eager to hear what you think.
