Metro Art has released the latest onboard neighborhood poster in the popular Through the Eyes of Artists series, celebrating the lively rhythms and festive community spirit of Panorama City. Created by artist Mel Depaz, the new artwork captures an evening scene in Panorama City, with mariachi music and dancers gathered among brightly painted storefronts and the DTLA skyline in the distance.
Celebrating Culture and Community in Panorama City
Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Panorama City was the Valley’s first planned community and remains its most densely populated neighborhood, shaped by generations of families and small businesses. Whether you’re a Valley local or curious explorer, take a ride on Metro Bus to Panorama City to enjoy its palm-tree lined streets, local restaurants, and dynamic gathering spaces like the Valley Indoor Swap Meet and Plaza Del Valle.
Amidst a starry sky and the iconic hills of the Valley, artist Mel Depaz’s artwork highlights Plaza Del Valle, a beloved shopping complex and community hub home to approximately 100 small businesses and restaurants. Inspired by the plazas of Latin America, Plaza Del Valle also hosts community events with live entertainment and family-friendly activities, captured through Depaz’s mariachi-heart trumpeter and colorful folklorico dancers.
In describing her vision for the piece, Depaz noted:
“My illustration of Panorama City focuses on the ambiance of the iconic Plaza Del Valle and the colors associated with the local architecture. For this piece I wanted to give off the energy of celebration, Latin culture, color, and music, and Plaza Del Valle is the exact place to highlight these themes.”

Where to get a poster
The Panorama City poster will debut on Metro’s bus and rail fleet beginning September 12. It will be available while supplies last, at all Metro Customer Centers, listed below:

- Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Center

- Wilshire/Vermont Center
- Rosa Parks (Willowbrook) Center
- LAX/Metro Transit Center
You can also meet the artist and receive a signed poster on September 14 at the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Plaza Del Valle, 8610 Van Nuys Blvd, Panorama City, from 9AM to 12PM.
