Did you know that there are 27 artists and artist teams creating site-responsive, architecturally integrated artworks for the seven new stations of the D Line Subway Extension Project? On Thursday, June 5, you’ll have the chance to meet a few of them.
Join Metro Art-commissioned artists Analia Saban, Eddie Rodolfo Aparicio, Oscar Magallanes, Phung Huynh, and Sarah Cain as they discuss their site-specific artworks for the future Century City Station on Section 2. Hosted by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the Century City Chamber of Commerce, its Arts Council, and Metro Art, the artists will share their inspiration and creative concepts drawing from the history and legacy of Century City. From developing the concepts to the fabrication processes in glass mosaic, porcelain enamel steel, glass tile and architectural glass, the artists will dive into the ways in which materials and community connections have shaped the integrated artworks at the future station.
Thao Nguyen of CAA will moderate this panel discussion that will explore community histories, cultural identities and the future of Century City and Los Angeles. A Q&A with the public will follow.
