Metro’s LIFE program — which helps low income riders save on fares — is relocating their Southwest office.
LIFE has one administrator — the International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) – who is responsible for screening patron eligibility, processing applications, doing outreach at community events and distributing transportation subsidies.
IILA is moving from their long-time office in West Adams to a new office in the heart of Leimert Park, adjacent to the surrounding neighborhoods of Crenshaw, La Cienega and Jefferson Park.

All LA County residents can visit the office to enroll in the LIFE program on site and receive instant benefits. Any applications that are not captured at the office can also be submitted online, at a pop-up event, or at a Metro Customer Center.
LIFE participants receive unlimited free Metro rides for the first 90 days. After that, participants can load 20 free regional rides each month on Metro or purchase a discounted pass from any of the 15 LIFE participating transit agencies, including LADOT, Long Beach Transit, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus and others (you can find the entire list here).
LIFE also partners with more than 150 agencies to distribute 4-ride tickets and taxi vouchers that help riders get to medical appointments, shelters, food banks and government appointments.
In addition to the Southwest office, IILA has two more operating locations where interested LIFE applicants can enroll onsite.
