
This April is Jazz Appreciation Month, which means that Metro Art and KJazz 88.1 FM are joining forces once again! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 5 – from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. –– for an unforgettable evening of live music at Union Station. Get your groove on as the station’s historic Ticket Concourse transforms into a jazz haven featuring performances by Kiefer Trio, Salami Rose Joe Louis, and the David Binney Action Trio. With KJazz DJs Rhonda Hamilton and José Rizo as your hosts, you’re in for an incredible night.
This special event is FREE and open to all ages—no tickets required! Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to secure your spot.
But wait, it gets better! The first 40 visitors to present their TAP cards at the Metro Art info table will receive a free Metro Art publication along with a Union Station swag bag.
So go Metro, enjoy artwork at stations along the way, and make your trip to Union Station smooth and stress-free! Kiefer Trio
A groundbreaking force in contemporary jazz, Kiefer Trio blends jazz and hip-hop with authenticity and improvisational energy. Led by pianist and producer Kiefer, alongside longtime collaborators Luke Titus and Pera Krstajic, the group has captivated audiences worldwide. With collaborations spanning Anderson .Paak (earning Kiefer a Grammy) to Drake, Kiefer continues to push musical boundaries. Recent highlights include a triumphant NPR Tiny Desk Concert, sold-out shows at Blue Note NYC, and an upcoming Asia tour.
Salami Rose Joe Louis
A fearless sonic explorer, Salami Rose Joe Louis fuses intricate jazz harmonies, dreamy beats, and sci-fi-inspired storytelling. Her critically acclaimed debut album Zdenka 2080 earned a nomination for Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards Best Album of 2020. With tours alongside Flying Lotus, Toro y Moi, Clairo, and MNDSGN, her performances continue to evolve and captivate. Her latest projects include the 2024 collaborative album Sarah with Flanafi and a dynamic live EP showcasing her quartet’s improvisational prowess.
David Binney Action Trio
Saxophonist and composer David Binney is widely recognized as a visionary in jazz, having collaborated with legends such as Gil Evans, Maria Schneider, Jim Hall, and Medeski Martin & Wood. His Action Trio, featuring drummer Louis Cole and bassist Pera Krstajic, delivers high-energy performances that push jazz into new creative realms. With 22 albums as a bandleader, production credits for Donny McCaslin and Lost Tribe, and contributions to David Bowie’s Blackstar, Binney continues to leave his indelible mark on the jazz world.
