Fierce! The Story of Cats
From sabertooths to house cats, the Natural History Museum has unveiled an immersive experience that brings you into the fascinating world of cats. The exhibition for all ages, Fierce! The Story of Cats highlights the beauty and variety of felines through interactive displays, cultural objects, as well as storytelling about cats in pop culture with a very special focus on some iconic cats of L.A.

KCON 2025
The K-pop fan and artist festival blasts off at Crypto.com Arena and the L.A. Convention Center with all things Korean pop culture, K-beauty and three much-anticipated nights of K-pop concerts. The daytime fun will also feature discussion panels, shopping for KCON-exclusive merch, dance performances and meet-and-greets with your favorite K-pop stars.

Go Metro: Take the A or E Line to Pico Station, which is about one block from the convention center and arena.
Friday, August 1
KCRW Summer Nights
KCRW and the California African American Museum (CAAM) are throwing a summer dance party for all ages on Friday night. KCRW DJ Tyler Boudreaux and guest DJ Linafornia will spin live sets to get you in the mood to groove. You’ll also be able to fuel up at food trucks, get a refreshing drink in the beer garden and check out the museum’s exhibitions.

Leagues Cup Soccer – Phase 1: LAFC v Pachuca
The Leagues Cup began in 2019 and brings all Major League Soccer and Liga MX teams together in an exciting round-robin format. Come out to BMO Stadium this weekend and watch LAFC take on Hidalgo-based Pachuca.

Grand Performances
Downtown L.A.’s CalPlaza will host two back-to-back nights of outdoor celebrations this weekend. First up, a Friday lineup of inspiring poets will share their stories and rhymes in She Speaks: The Last Word, with L.A.-based poet Yesika Salgado headlining the night. On Saturday, Adrian Quesada will perform at Grand Performances, debuting music from his new album Boleros Psicodélicos II. Think vintage bolero blended with hip-hop beats, psychedelic grooves and soul-drenched intensity.

Go Metro: Take the B or D Line to Pershing Square Station and exit at 4th St, or take the A or E Line to Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill Station and it’s about a 5-minute walk along Grand Av to CalPlaza.
LACMA Free Concerts
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is currently hosting not one but two free concert series – so choose your own weekend adventure! Fridays are a perfect chance to unwind with Jazz at LACMA with Ernie Watts Quartet performing this week. Every Saturday through Labor Day brings Latin Sounds, where you’ll hear Chino Espinoza y Los Dueños del Son playing salsa music and more this weekend.

HARD Summer Music Festival
The HARD Summer Music Festival will take over Hollywood Park (adjacent to SoFi Stadium) with an exciting lineup of high-energy music and groundbreaking artists. For more details about the lineup and how to ride Metro to the fest, check out our previous Source post.
Saturday and Sunday 2 to 10 p.m.
Go Metro: Take the C or K Line to LAX/Metro Transit Center and connect to the free shuttle providing direct service to the festival grounds at Hollywood Park.
Sunday, August 3
Leagues Cup Soccer – Phase 1: Cruz Azul v LA Galaxy
Another Leagues Cup – Phase 1 matchup takes place at Dignity Health Sports Park this weekend, this time pitting Mexico City-based Cruz Azul against LA Galaxy. Don’t miss it!
Go Metro: Take the Metro J Line bus to the Harbor Gateway Transit Center or the A Line train to the Del Amo Station to connect to the free Galaxy Express, which provides non-stop shuttle rides to and from Dignity Health Sports Park for every LA Galaxy home match. The Galaxy Express begins service 90 minutes before kickoff, operating approximately every 10 minutes and running through the match’s 15th minute. Return trips will begin after the game and will run for 45 minutes.
