It’s the first weekend of February, and there are so many fun events happening throughout Los Angeles County. From the Natural History Museum in downtown Los Angeles to Roots & Routes in Willowbrook, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re exploring science, celebrating culture, or just getting out of the house, Metro can get you there. Keep reading for details.

LA Philharmonic: Thomas Adès and Yuja Wang
Conductor Thomas Adès leads the LA Philharmonic with world-renowned pianist Yuja Wang for an extraordinary program spanning Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Adès’ own compositions. The evening features Tchaikovsky’s dramatic “Francesca da Rimini, Op. 32” and opens with the U.S. premiere of “Man with Limp Wrist” by William Marsey, an LA Phil commission. It’s a night of powerful orchestral music showcasing both timeless classics and bold contemporary voices. Walt Disney Concert Hall. Friday-Sunday. Tickets start at $158.
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill Station or take the B or D Line to Wilshire/Western Station and walk about five minutes to the concert hall.
Friday, February 6
First Fridays at the Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum celebrates 20 years of bridging nightlife and education with the return of First Fridays on Feb. 6. This month’s theme, “Life at the Human Scale,” explores how we experience the world at our size. Indie rock artist Jay Som headlines the music lineup, with DJ sets from Novena Carmel and Wyldeflower keeping the vibes flowing all night. It’s the perfect blend of science, music and after-hours museum magic. 6-10 p.m. Tickets $30.
Go Metro: Take the E Line to Expo Park/USC Station, and just walk a few minutes to the museum.
First Fridays at the Norton Museum
Enjoy free admission for all visitors on the first Friday of the month from 4-7 p.m. Bring your friends or family and enjoy free entrance to the galleries and garden. No reservations or advance tickets necessary.
Go Metro: Take Bus Line 180 to the Colorado/Terrace stop and walk a few minutes to the museum.
Saturday, February 7
Celebrate Rosa Parks Day at the Roots & Routes Creek to Station Event in Willowbrook
This weekend, Metro and the Willowbrook Inclusion Network (WIN) invite the community to celebrate Rosa Parks Day with the Roots & Routes Creek to Station activation on Saturday, February 7 at the Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station.
Visitors can enjoy live performances, a community drum circle, and local food vendors that showcase the vibrant culture of Willowbrook. In addition to the station festivities, there will be a special off-site activation at Compton Creek—featuring a guided photo walk and a live podcast recording that explore the theme of connection between movement, place, and people. Free. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Go Metro: Take A or C Line to Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station and walk over to the community center.
Get ready to say namaste. The Yoga Expo flows into the Pasadena Convention Center for a full day of yoga, meditation, and holistic wellness. Take classes from experienced instructors, explore mindfulness practices, and browse a curated marketplace filled with wellness products, sustainable activewear, and health-conscious goods. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or just curious about starting your practice, this is your chance to find your zen and connect with the wellness community. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tickets start at $70.14.
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Del Mar Station, and it’s a 10-minute walk to the convention center.
Drop-in Workshop for Families: Animation inspired by Ponyo
Families can create their own stop-motion animations inspired by the beloved Studio Ghibli film “Ponyo” (2008) at the Academy Museum. Depict your own stories of friendship like the heartwarming bond between Ponyo and Sosuke. It’s a hands-on creative experience perfect for young animators and Miyazaki fans alike.
If you missed this weekend, no worries — workshops happen every Saturday in February through Feb. 21. All workshops are free with general admission and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Museum admission is free for youths 17 and under. 12:30-2:30 p.m. Adults $25.
Go Metro: Take the D Line to Wilshire/Normandie Station and connect to Bus Line 20 to Wilshire/Curson, then it’s a short walk to the museum.
LA Lakers vs Gold State Warriors
The LA Lakers host the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday night in a classic California rivalry matchup. Watch LeBron and the purple and gold take on Steph Curry and the Warriors in what promises to be an electric showdown between two of the West’s most storied franchises. 5:30 p.m.
Go Metro: Take A or E Line to Pico Station and walk a few minutes the arena. Or take the J Line directly the arena.
Sunday, February 6
The Regent Theater Super Bowl Party
The Regent Theater in downtown Los Angeles is throwing a Super Bowl party you won’t want to miss. Catch all the action on the big screen with fellow fans in this all-ages celebration. Arrive early for the pregame party starting at 11 a.m. or show up closer to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. Either way, expect good vibes, great food and the biggest game of the year on a massive screen. Doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $13. Pregame party add-on ticket required.
Go Metro: Take the B or D Line to Pershing Square Station, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to the theater.
Go Metro Weekend Forecast
After a very warm start to the week, temperatures will gradually cool heading into the weekend. Friday will bring partly sunny skies and highs in the 70s as onshore breezes return.
By Saturday, a weak low-pressure system will move through the region, keeping temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. Morning clouds may return to coastal areas before clearing in the afternoon.
Sunday will bring a slight warm-up as offshore flow redevelops, adding a few degrees to daytime highs. Overall, the weekend looks dry, mild, and much more typical for early February in Southern California.
