The holiday season is in full swing with plenty of events bringing joy and cheer across L.A. County. From L.A. Kings hockey and college football to holiday parades and ice skating, wherever you plan to go, Metro can get you there. Please note that Metro buses and trains are operating on a weekend schedule on Thanksgiving Day. Keep reading for details.
Holidays in L.A.
The holidays are twinkling across Los Angeles! From downtown L.A. to the coast, festive tree lighting ceremonies are popping up, and you can reach them all car-free with Metro. Check them out here.

L.A. Zoo Animal Lights: Animals Aglow
Light up your life at the L.A. Zoo Lights, the city’s wildest holiday tradition. Lanterns, lights and exotic animals await. The event features a giant walk-in kaleidoscope, seasonal treats and cocktails, and photo ops throughout the park, including Santa Claus himself. Tickets start at $19. Through Jan. 11.
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Lincoln/Cypress Station and transfer to Bus Line 296 or take the bus directly and get off at L.A. Zoo stop in Griffith Park.
Los Angeles Auto Show
The L.A. Auto Show continues this weekend at the L.A. Convention Center, and it’s a car lover’s dream. This isn’t just any auto show, it’s one of the most influential gatherings in the global automotive world, sprawling across more than one million square feet of cutting-edge vehicles and innovation. From electric dream machines to classic beauties, the show brings together everything driving the future of the automobile. Tickets start at $25. Through Nov. 30.

Choose green over Black Friday and skip the shopping chaos for something truly special. Green Day at Plant Chica in Leimert Park is a community gathering celebrating the magic of plants and sustainable living. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned plant parent, this green gathering is all about cultivating community, sharing knowledge and celebrating nature. It’s fun for the whole family and completely free. FREE. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

L.A. Kings Holiday Ice
The L.A. Kings Holiday Ice is back for another season of winter fun. The outdoor ice rink opens Friday at L.A. LIVE, offering the perfect way to glide into the holiday spirit. Whether you’re planning a date night, a family outing or just want to skate before catching a Kings game or concert, this is your chance to lace up under the California sky. Tickets: $17 for kids/$27 general admission. Through January 10.

Lakers Basketball

UCLA vs USC College Football
It’s a hometown showdown in college football. The No. 20 USC Trojans face off against their crosstown rivals, the UCLA Bruins, at the Coliseum for the annual battle for L.A. bragging rights. USC is shooting for the playoffs and UCLA hopes to be the spoiler. 4:30 p.m.
Go Metro: Take the E Line and exit Expo Park/USC or take the J Line bus to 37th St/USC. Tips for your match day trip.
L.A. Kings Hockey
The L.A. Kings face off against the Vancouver Canucks at Crypto.com Arena. Catch all the action as the Kings defend home ice Saturday. 7-9 p.m.
Go Metro: Take the A or E Line to Pico Station, and it’s about a 5- to 10-minute walk to the arena. Or take the J Line straight to the Crypto.com Arena stop.
LA Clippers
LA Clippers hosts Dallas Mavericks on Saturday at the Intuit Dome. 7-9 p.m.
Go Metro: Connect to a free bus shuttle at Hawthorne/Lennox Station (C Line), Downtown Inglewood Station (K Line) or LAX/Metro Transit Center (C/K Lines). Note that boarding at Hawthorne/Lennox Station will be on Hawthorne Bl heading southbound (opposite side of SoFi shuttle boarding location). The shuttles will start running at 20-minute intervals two hours before each game begins and at 10-minute intervals for one hour after each game ends.
Sunday, November 30
LA Chargers Football
The Chargers host the Las Vegas Raiders at SoFi Stadium Sunday afternoon. 1:25 p.m-4:25 p.m.
Go Metro: The free SoFi Stadium shuttle connects fans to the action from the LAX/Metro Transit Center. Take the Metro C or K Line – or other local bus lines such as Big Blue Bus Line 3 and Culver Citybus Line 6 – to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and hop aboard the shuttle at bus bay 8. Hollywood Christmas Parade
The 93rd Hollywood Christmas Parade brings holiday cheer back to the Boulevard. This cherished Los Angeles tradition celebrates the entertainment industry and culture while raising money for Toys for Tots. This year’s Grand Marshal is actor Luke Wilson, leading a spectacular procession of floats, marching bands, celebrities and holiday magic down Hollywood Blvd. Tickets start $35. 6-10 p.m.
Go Metro: Take the B Line to Hollywood/Highland or Hollywood/Vine Station, and it’s a short walk to the parade route.

We’re tracking comfortable weather for Thanksgiving. Temperatures should be nice in the 70s as you do your Black Friday shopping. Then after Saturday, we start a slight cool down with highs slipping between the upper 60s and lower 70s on Saturday and Sunday. It’ll be partly sunny throughout the weekend, so grab a light jacket and get out there.
