L.A. Zoo Animal Lights: Animals Aglow
Light up your life at the L.A. Zoo Lights, the city’s wildest holiday tradition. Lanterns, lights and exotic animals await. The event features a giant walk-in kaleidoscope, seasonal treats and cocktails, and photo ops throughout the park, including Santa Claus himself. Tickets start at $19. Through Jan. 11.

Autumn Festival
Take a splash in culture at the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach. The aquarium hosts its 24th Annual Autumn Festival highlighting the traditions and cultures of China, Japan, Korea and the Philippines through a weekend of learning opportunities and family entertainment celebrating the diversity of Asian and Asian American cultures. Tickets start at $34.94 for children and $44.95 for adults. Saturday & Sunday 9-5 p.m.

LBC EATS – A Food Lover’s Dream at Weekend Night Market

We’re keeping an eye on some unsettled weather headed our way this weekend. A slow-moving storm system is expected to bring periods of rain to Southern California starting Friday and lasting through Sunday.
There’s still some uncertainty in the exact timing and track of this system, but most forecasts agree that rain will move in during the Friday morning commute. Then there will be heavier pockets of rain Friday night heading into Saturday. Rain will consistent throughout Saturday, with heavier bands precipitation falling during Saturday afternoon. The storm system will weaken as we head into Sunday, but we could still have some linger showers. This weekend, some areas could see pockets of heavy rain at times, with rainfall rates between a quarter and half an inch per hour. That could lead to localized flooding especially on roads and in low-lying areas.
There’s also a small chance for thunderstorms Friday into Saturday, which could bring heavier downpours, gusty winds, and even small hail. If you’re near recent burn areas, stay alert for possible mud or debris flows.
It’s a good idea to check your windshield wipers, clear your gutters, and have a backup plan for any outdoor events. Remember: never drive through flooded roads. And be careful wherever you go – don’t run on our platforms and stand back from the street at bus stops to avoid an unexpected splash zone via passing vehicles.
Temperatures will stay cool all weekend, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 50s. The storm should move out gradually by late Sunday, leaving us with a drier start to next week.
