Go Metro to weekend fun-and-games: things to do October 11-13

This weekend is packing plenty of different ways to have a great time outside, including outdoor concerts, street festivals, sports, cultural events and 7.5 miles of open streets for CicLAvia in the heart of LA. Whether you’re looking for things to do outdoors, or even inside, keep reading for a sampling of what’s happening.

Friday, October 11 

Clippers Basketball 
The Clippers host Portland Friday evening in pre-season action at their new home, the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.  
Go Metro or Go Torrance Transit: Take Metro Bus Lines 117 (Century Boulevard) or 212 (La Brea Av/Prairie Av) or Torrance Transit Line 10, with stops adjacent to the Intuit Dome 

Jazz Night at LACMA  
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Weekly Jazz series will feature a performance by the Angel City Jazz Festival featuring Otmaro Ruiz. Bonus tip: L.A. County residents (with ID) get free admission to LACMA on weekdays after 3 p.m., so you can enjoy the museum’s art collections before the show. Seating is first-come, first-serve.

Saturday, October 12

Broadway Night Lights, Downtown L.A.  
With 75,000 attendees expected, Broadway Night Lights promises to be an unforgettable cultural celebration stretching along five blocks in Downtown L.A. on Saturday. Join the street festival on Broadway, between 3rd Street and 8th Street, for three stages of live music, public art, a Ferris wheel, a kid zone, Lucha Libre matches, a classic car show and more. Plus, several historic theaters will open their doors for festival-goers to explore or join guided tours. 
4 p.m. to midnight. FREE 
Go Metro: Take the B or D Lines to Pershing Square Station or the A or E Lines to Historic Broadway Station 

Indigenous Peoples’ Day at The Getty  
The Getty celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a day of special activities, including hands-on workshops, music from Wildhorse Native American Association, poetry readings and indigenous dance performances.  
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. FREE, advance reservation is required 
Go Metro: Take Line 761 to Getty Center Dr/Sepulveda Bl 

UCLA Football 
The Minnesota Gophers visit the Rose Bowl to play UCLA on Saturday evening.  
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Memorial Park Station in Pasadena, turn right out of the station and walk to the free Rose Bowl bus shuttle that drops off at Gate B at the stadium. The shuttle begins running at 3 p.m. on Saturday and continues for 90 minutes after the game.

USC Football 
Fourth-ranked Penn State visits the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on Saturday afternoon to take on USC in a Big 10 matchup.  
Go Metro: Take the E Line to Expo Park/USC or Expo/Vermont or the J Line to 37th Street/USC Station. All three stations are a short walk to the Coliseum.

Sunday, October 13

Bee Week at The Hammer  
As part of their PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition, the Hammer is presenting Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice, with special Bee Week programming from October 13-20. Bring your camera or phone camera to a hands-on workshop led by conservation photographer Krystle Hickman, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Spending Sunday with the kids? Catch a Family Flicks screening of the insect documentary Microcosmos at 11 a.m.  
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. FREE  
Go Metro: Take Line 20/720 to Wilshire/Glendon or take Lines 233, 602 or 761 to Westwood/Lindown 

CicLAvia
CicLAvia – Heart of LA brings the city’s biggest open streets event to Downtown L.A. this Sunday for a route that connects Boyle Heights, Chinatown, DTLA, Echo Park and Little Tokyo. 
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. FREE 
Go Metro via multiple Metro stations, including the A Line to Chinatown Station, the E to Mariachi Plaza, the A or E to Historic Broadway Station, or the A, B or D to Union Station. Find out everything you need to know to bring your bike on Metro or how to ride a Metro Bike! 

Dodgers Baseball
Assuming the Dodgers win Friday, they’ll start the NLCS at home Sunday when they host the Mets.
Go Metro: The Dodger Stadium Express is running from the South Bay and Union Station — and will run as long as the Dodgers keep playing.   
South Bay: Dodger Stadium Express stops at Harbor Gateway Transit Center, which is served by the J Line and other local buses. The Dodger bus also stops at Slauson, Manchester, Harbor Freeway, Rosecrans stations along the J Line.   
Union Station is served by the A, B and D Lines, the J Line bus and many local bus lines. 
Parking: $8 at Union Station; free at Harbor Transit. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both lots.   
Heads-up! With sellout crowds expected and most folks sticking around until the end of the game, there may be a wait for buses after the game. One way to avoid lines? It’s a 1.2-mile and downhill walk from the ballpark to the Metro A Line’s Chinatown Station. Here’s your walking route:
