The Horror Show makes its debut at the Academy Museum, the LA Libros Festival fills the Central Library with Spanish-language storytelling and live music, and the LA Kings open at Crypto.com Arena. The Horror Show opens at the Academy Museum with a journey through the history of spine-chilling cinema
Just in time for Halloween season, The Horror Show makes its debut at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in the Wilshire-Fairfax corridor. Galleries organized by theme — Gothic, Psychological, Science, Slasher, Religion and Ghosts — take visitors through decades of the genre’s most iconic and terrifying moments. The exhibition runs through July 25, 2027.

Lucha Libre returns to MOLAA for the museum’s 30th anniversary in Long Beach
In honor of its 30th anniversary, the Museum of Latin American Art brings Lucha Libre back to its Long Beach home for a weekend of electrifying matches and celebration. Three nights of masks, drama, and athletic spectacle in one of LA’s most distinctive cultural venues.

The Cards and More Tour’s TCG Con returns to Long Beach at the Hilton this weekend for a family-friendly expo covering Pokémon, Pokémon Funko, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, comics, and more. Kids under 12 get in free.

Love Letters to LA: Autry Museum Annual Block Party celebrates community and culture in Griffith Park
The Autry Museum of the American West throws open its grounds Saturday for its annual block party, themed this year around Love Letters to LA. Carnival games, food, entertainment, and museum access fill the day, with performances from Wildhorse Singers and Dancers among the highlights.

Get ready for a warm and mostly pleasant weekend. However, conditions will change noticeably by Sunday as a trough moves through the state and tropical systems offshore begin influencing our weather.
Friday and Saturday both feature above-normal temperatures, running 4 to 8 degrees warmer for this time of year. Coastal areas will see highs in the 80s while inland valleys climb into the 90s. Expect the morning marine layer both days, with low clouds clearing to sunshine by late morning. Saturday may be cloudier than Friday depending on the track of Hurricane Polo, which is near Mexico.
Sunday brings a widespread cooldown as a trough pushes into the state. That means we’ll have more marine layer and cooler temperatures. Temperatures should be in the lower 80s on that day. Early next week is uncertain because Hurricanes Polo and Odalys to the south could bring partly to mostly cloudy skies and more cooling.
