Happy Pride – a month-long celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture, activism, and the spirit of acceptance and inclusion. We know that Pride is recognized in so many different ways, but it has a special history at Metro. Our involvement dates back to 1999, when our very own Division 7 in West Hollywood decorated our first Pride bus (read some more history here).
Once again, we’re very proud to be the official transit partner for L.A. Pride, and we’re joining the parades in Long Beach, Culver City and the San Fernando Valley as a way to put our values into action. So come check out our bus and march with us – everyone is welcome, and it’s always a blast.
We’ve got a snazzy new TAP card, too! This year, we trace Pride’s roots back to the Mattachine Society, a gay rights society that had spread across the country but started here in L.A.
L.A. Pride Parade and Village
The celebration on Sunday will include over one hundred floats, music, dancing, celebrities and tens of thousands of spectators, plus a Village street fair. Parade Grand Marshalls are actress Niecy Nash, Jessica Betts, Andrew Rannells and social media stars, TrinoxAdam.
Parade starts at 11 a.m.; Village 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Take the B Line to our stations renamed and wrapped in Pride colors for the occasion, LA Pride Nation (Hollywood/Highland) or Hollywood/Pride (Hollywood/Vine). Note- please plan ahead as bus detours may be in effect in the area due to the event.
Of course, Pride isn’t the only celebration taking place this weekend. This is LA, after all! You can dance to 90s hip hop at the Hollywood Bowl. Cheer for Angel City. This summer, there are endless options, and we’re here to get you everywhere you want to go.

First Fridays at MOCA Geffen
This month at First Fridays, DJ Ashley Younniä of the Children of Sound drops a special live set as part of MOCA’s FEELIN’ FEELIN’ dance floor residency program. Guests can also check out the Geffen’s latest exhibition, Olafur Eliasson: OPEN in its final few weeks.

Saturday, June 7
Angel City Soccer at BMO Stadium
The Black and Gold go head-to-head with their mid-west rivals, the Chicago Stars FC. The odds are in LA’s favor, but anything can happen!
Go Metro: Connect to the E Line and exit Expo Park/USC, or take the J Line bus to 37th St/USC. Tips for your match day trip.
Latin Sounds at LACMA
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s series of evening concerts will go down this Saturday with a performance by Las Guaracheras, a Latin Music sextet from Cali, Colombia.

Saturday and Sunday
Cali Vibes
Jump, jump into summer mode at one of LA’s favorite music festivals that takes over Marina Green Park on the Long Beach shoreline all Saturday and Sunday. Cali Vibes will bring a weekend full of headliners, including Kid Cudi, Dirty Heads, Cypress Hill, Ludacris, Santigold, YG Marley … just to name just a few.
Doors open at 12 p.m. both days
Go Metro: Take A Line to Downtown Long Beach or 1st Street Station, and the park is a short walk toward Shoreline Dr.

Sunday, June 8
A Roots Picnic Experience
Legendary, genre-bending hip-hop powerhouse the Roots brings a celebration of the joy and power of hip-hop to the Hollywood Bowl. The Roots will pump the beats and bass with a continuous set and appearances by Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, DJ Quik, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and many more!
Go Metro: Take B Line to Hollywood/Highland and connect to the free (with valid TAP card) Bowl Shuttle at Ovation Hollywood’s Orange Court, or walk from the station to the bowl – approximately 1 mile north on Highland Av.
Out Block Party
Angel City Brewery teams up with GLAAD, Makeshift Muse, DTLA Proud and Truly LA for a Pride afternoon block party featuring food and drink specials, drag shows, live music and DJs as well as shopping at a pop-up Maker’s Market.

Puppets in the Park
The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and Bob Baker Marionette Theater team up to welcome all ages to a magical morning of puppetry at Barnsdall Art Park. Come for one (or both!) of the shows and stay for art workshops led by Barnsdall Junior Arts Center instructors. Shows at 9:30 and 11 a.m. FREE

LAFC Soccer at BMO Stadium
LAFC is facing Sporting Kansas City in a match originally scheduled for May 28 but moved due to the FIFA Club World Cup qualifier match (ICYMI – LAFC triumphed)!
