Go Metro to fun things to do this weekend: September 20-21

Fall officially starts on Monday, but the summer vibes are still going strong across L.A.! The weekend is stacked with cultural festivals, live music and exciting football and baseball games. From the Central Avenue Jazz Festival to KCRW Summer Nights and the Train Festival at Union Station, wherever you plan to go, Metro can get you there! Keep reading for details.  

Friendly reminder: our system grows this weekend with the opening of the A Line extension to Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona beginning at noon on Friday, Sept. 19.

All Weekend

L.A. Dodgers  
The boys in blue battle it out with the Giants Friday through Sunday as both teams jockey for their spot in the playoffs. 
Go Metro: Connect to the Dodger Stadium Express at two convenient locations – Union Station or the South Bay. For more information, including boarding locations and game day tips, visit metro.net/dodgers.  

Saturday, September 20

Central Avenue Jazz Festival
The 30^th annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival will take over Central Avenue between MLK Boulevard and Vernon Avenue on Saturday with a showcase of live music and inspiring vibes across three stages. Pull up to the fest, grab a tasty bite to eat from food trucks and dance the day away with an amazing lineup of musical groups and artists. Featured performers include the Roy Ayers Tribute Project, Gregory Porter, Blaque Dynamite, Poncho Sanchez and Jazzmeia Horn – to name just a few!  
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. FREE 
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Vernon Station, bus Line 105 along Vernon Av or Line 53 along Central Av (see detours in effect due to the event)  

KCRW Summer Nights
KCRW is closing out this year’s Summer Nights series with Manuela restaurant and Hauser & Wirth art galleries on Saturday night. Explore the galleries throughout the night while KCRW DJs SiLVA and Nassir Nassirzadeh and guest DJ 323 AM spin tunes to put you in the mood to groove – and pair all that with Manuela’s scrumptious farm-to-table eats and drinks!  
5 to 10 p.m. FREE 
Go Metro: Take the A or E Line to Little Tokyo/Arts District Station, and it’s about a 5-minute walk to Hauser & Wirth in the Arts District. 

USC Football 
It’s the Spartans versus the Trojans at the Coliseum in a legendary rivalry – with USC taking the field for a victory over Michigan State.   
Go Metro: Take the E Line and exit Expo Park/USC, or take the J Line bus to 37th St/USC. Tips for your match day trip.  

Saturday and Sunday

Baja Splash Cultural Festival
The Aquarium of the Pacific celebrates the cultures of Mexico, Central and South America with the Baja Splash Cultural Festival. The family-friendly fun will feature traditional dance, live music and educational activities in English and Spanish.
Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  
Go Metro: Take the A Line to Downtown Long Beach or 1^st Street Station 

Thai Fest by the Beach
This weekend, you don’t want to miss the amazing Thai food, traditional performances and family-friendly fun on the Santa Monica Pier. Thai Fest by the Beach will feature authentic Thai food, dance and music performances, Muay Thai demos and more for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience.  
12 to 8 p.m. FREE 
Go Metro: Take the E Line to Downtown Santa Monica Station

Train Festival at Union Station
Union Station, along with Metro, Amtrak and Metrolink, will welcome train lovers and geeks alike to explore and celebrate all things rail at the Train Festival 2025: LA’s Spirit in Motion. Check out our previous blog post for all the details. 
Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, September 21

L.A. Chargers  
The Chargers take on the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium.  
Go Metro: The free SoFi Stadium shuttle connects fans to the action from the LAX/Metro Transit Center. Take the Metro C or K Line – or other local bus lines such as Big Blue Bus Line 3 and Culver Citybus Line 6 – to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and hop aboard the shuttle at bus bay 8. More tips for your game day trip. 

The People’s Pace 5K/10K Run/Walk
It’s not so much a race but an awesome opportunity to move together as a community on Sunday morning. The People’s Pace Run/Walk is open to all ages and abilities, taking place at the Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area, with a lineup of food vendors and wellness resource booths to explore after you cross the finish line.   
7 a.m. to 12 p.m.  
Go Metro: Take the E Line to La Cienega/Jefferson Station and connect to a free Metro shuttle to the event at Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area.
