If you’re looking to kick back and relax with some great food or dance all night, this first weekend of October is lined up with a variety of cultural and food festivals, a highly anticipated opening night party at the Hammer and plenty of sports. Oktoberfest at Fairplex
The Fairplex in Pomona turns into an Oktoberfest wonderland every Friday and Saturday, starting this weekend and continuing through October 18. Come for the Bavarian beer, festive wear and polka bands, stay for the hearty bites of bratwurst, knockwurst, pretzels and potato pancakes. For car buffs, Das Kär Show will showcase a cool lineup of Volkswagen Beetles and other German-made autos.

Saturday, October 4
Indian Food Festival
L.A.’s first-ever Indian Food Festival will take over the grounds at Be True Studios in the heart of Hollywood, featuring DJs and live music, full beverage bar, an artisan market, henna artists and other traditional cultural displays. But the food is going to be the main attraction! From Mumbai street food favorites to creative fusions you won’t find anywhere, this foodie event will be a tasty adventure in Indian cuisine and culture.

Go Metro: Take Line 2 along Sunset Bl, or take the B Line to Hollywood/Highland which is a 15-minute walk from the location.
Made in L.A. Opening Night
L.A. is many things to many people, and the Hammer Museum’s biennial Made in L.A. exhibition is a fascinating way to experience many different points of view. To kick things off, the Hammer is hosting an opening night party for Made in L.A. on Saturday night, with galleries open late, music in the courtyard, tasty bites and beverages. The artworks featured in this year’s biennial include formats such as film, painting, theater, choreography, photography, sculpture, sound and video – all by artists practicing throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
8 to 10 p.m. FREE. Advance RSVP is highly recommended; entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.

UCLA Football
Penn State is hosted by the Bruins as UCLA searches for a first win this season.

Sunday, October 5
L.A. Chargers
The Washington Commanders take on the 3-1 Chargers, looking to bounce back from their loss against the Giants.
Go Metro: The free SoFi Stadium shuttle connects fans to the action from the LAX/Metro Transit Center. Take the Metro C or K Line – or other local bus lines such as Big Blue Bus Line 3 and Culver Citybus Line 6 – to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and hop aboard the shuttle at bus bay 8. LAFC
The black and gold host Atlanta United for an exciting Sunday matchup at BMO Stadium. We’re celebrating this special LAFC home game with a pre-game meetup at Downtown Santa Monica Station before boarding a Metro train decorated in black and gold. The fan ride will feature onboard entertainment from LAFC’s DJ Infared and special Metro and LAFC merch giveaways as the train travels along the E Line to Expo Park/USC Station.
