LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes will bring back the Summer of Salsa monthly dance party with the first installment this week. Progressive dance orchestra Rumbankete will kick off the series.

Ivy Station Night Market: Mother’s Day Edition
This one’s for all the moms, nanas and mother figures! Ivy Station’s monthly night market will be extra special on Friday night in honor of Mother’s Day. Come for a marketplace of local makers and artisans, stay for the food trucks, kids crafting with Fit4Mom Los Angeles, and even dogs for adoption.

Beach Streets West
Beach Streets takes over parts of West Willow Street and Santa Fe in west Long Beach for a family-friendly day of biking, walking, rolling or running. The open streets event is a cool way to explore the neighborhood and enjoy live music, DJs, community organization booths, face painting, food trucks and a beer garden at the Willow Hub located between Pacific and Long Beach.

Mother’s Day Mariachi at Angel City Brewery
If your mom loves music, Angel City Brewery will celebrate with Mother’s Day Mariachi, featuring live mariachi, cold beverages and good vibes. Here’s to treating mom to a fun, music-filled afternoon she won’t forget.

Strong Tides, Stronger Community Ride
On Saturday, Metro Bike Share will host a beginner-friendly community ride that begins in Mar Vista then rolls to the iconic Venice Canals before returning to the starting point – making for a scenic 8.6-mile round trip. As with all Metro Bike Share events, riders 16 years and older can reserve a Metro Bike in advance at no cost.

Valley Asian Cultural Festival

The noteworthy exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey explores the artist’s process of using gunpowder and pyrotechnics to create drawings, paintings and events.
