Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Grand Central Market at 317 South Broadway, is both an iconic LA landmark (originally built in 1917!) and a globe-trotting food lover’s paradise, offering a dizzying array of cuisines from award-winning vendors. From tacos to sushi to ramen to oysters, the market’s got a bit of everything, showcasing the incredible cultural diversity that makes this city so special.
Better yet, it’s a very short walk from two Metro Rail stations (Pershing Square on the B Line and Historic Broadway on the A Line) and a handful of bus routes (such as the 4, 81, 90, and 419).
This summer, we want to make it easier for our student riders to visit the market and save on a meal! How? Just show your GoPass TAP card at the market’s information booth on Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to receive $5 in GCM dollars –– redeemable at any of the market’s 40 vendors. This offer is available to K-12 and community college students who are a part of the GoPass program and will run through the end of September. (Please note that there’s a limit of one $5 voucher per person.)
Wondering what GoPass is and how to sign up? Students at participating K-12 schools and community colleges can enroll in the program, which provides free rides on Metro, as well as 16 additional transit agencies. Find out more at metro.net/gopass.
