Have you seen them yet? The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office has installed Vote-By-Mail (VBM) drop boxes at 9 Metro Rail and Busway stations throughout the region, making it easier for you to vote on your way to work, errands, or on your way home.
Find them at the following locations:
- El Monte Transit Center
- North Hollywood B Line
- Harbor Gateway Transit Center
- Union Station (east wing)
- Harbor Freeway C Line
- Hollywood/Western B Line
- Wilshire/Vermont B/D Lines
- Westlake/MacArthur Park B/D Lines
- Norwalk C Line
The County Registrar’s Office will retrieve ballots from the boxes daily. On election day, November 5, 2024, all boxes will be secured at 8:00pm to ensure the integrity of the voting process. VBM boxes will be removed from Metro stations by November 15, 2024.

The effort is appreciated. But I see that there are none on the E and K lines. And none on the A line except at Union Station. This is an equity issue.
Your best bang for your buck would be to locate one at every major rail transfer station (7th/Metro, Willowbrook, Expo/Crenshaw, Union Station, LAX, Pico — in addition to Union Station, Wilshire/Vermont, Harbor Fwy and North Hollywood).

Thank you for your comment, and we completely understand your concern. The County Registrar-Recorder’s Office is responsible for making those decisions and they follow criteria designed to improve voter accessibility — in some cases that means putting a ballot box at our stations.
Even if a drop box isn’t on Metro property, there is often a box nearby in the neighborhood. Please refer to this link https://locator.lavote.gov/locations/vbm?culture=en which is a county map of all of the ballot box locations.
