Whenever you ride on a Metro bus, train, bike, or Metro Micro van, your ride is supported by hundreds of people –– drivers, mechanics, service attendants, custodians, security staff, customer service agents, mail clerks, and many other teams that you might not see on your ride but are essential to making your trip safe and comfortable.
This week –– as Customer Service Week kicks off around the world –– we have a special opportunity to honor them. Customer service, of course, is critical to nearly every industry, but transportation is unique. People tend to think about the destinations and not so much the trips. But the people who get you from A to B put in a lot of work to making your trips uneventful and hassle-free.
That’s why, over the course of the week, we’ll be spotlighting a few Metro staff members who, thanks to their compassion, humor, and quick thinking under pressure, have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure your experience with Metro is a great one.
And you can read about them right here on The Source.
You can help us recognize these team members, too! If you notice a Metro staff member doing a great job, you can submit a S.T.A.R. form (short for Special Thanks and Recognition). This program honors employees who consistently knock it out of the park when it comes to creating great experiences for riders. Send us the forms virtually at Metro.net/Star or via one of our Customer Care Centers. It’s fast and totally free. Our staff will certainly appreciate it.
So without further ado, meet Devin and Joshua, both Metro Transit Security Officers (TSOs). This past August, an E Line train got stuck in a tunnel with multiple people onboard. On receiving an emergency alert, the two officers sprung into action – boarding the train, boosting morale, and guiding customers safely onto the platform.
