Sepulveda G Line bus and bike detours in place as bridge construction begins

Construction has begun on the Sepulveda Boulevard Bridge and station improvements, a milestone for the Metro G Line Improvements Project in the San Fernando Valley.

This milestone is a key component in creating a safer, faster, more reliable G Line. Metro’s contractors, Valley Transit Partners (VTP), are scheduled to complete construction in December 2027. In the meantime, temporary bus and bike detours are in place to allow construction to progress smoothly while minimizing rider and community impacts. 

The detour began on March 28 and will be in effect until December 2027. 

G Line buses will now pick up and drop off riders at a newly constructed Sepulveda bus stop near the now closed Sepulveda Station, on the north side of the Sepulveda Park & Ride lot. Access to this new bus stop will only be available at Erwin St and Langdon Av. 

The bus detour will be along Sepulveda Bl, connecting Van Nuys Bl to Erwin St. Buses going eastbound will then travel through the Park & Ride before returning to the busway. Buses going westbound will take the new detour route down Sepulveda Bl and connect to the detour route along Van Nuys Bl.  

Parking will be available at the Park & Ride Lot throughout construction. However, vehicles will only be able to enter and exit through the driveway on Erwin St. Haskell Avenue will be closed, and access to Sepulveda and Victory Boulevard will be unavailable.  

Riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted signs when navigating the station area. 

The G Line Bikeway is also temporarily detoured around the construction zone. Cyclists are being detoured north from the busway between Tyrone Avenue and the entrance of the Park and Sepulveda. Bikers going westbound are detoured into the Park & Ride lot into the fenced section north of the new bus stop. Riders are encouraged to follow posted signage to stay safe and avoid biking on the busway. 

The current detours are necessary to construct the new bridge at Sepulveda Blvd and make station improvements. Once complete, the bridge will allow buses to travel over traffic, reducing delays and improving safety along the corridor. 

This improvement is part of Metro’s broader effort to enhance the G Line, making service faster, more reliable, and better suited for future transit riders.
