We wanted to give everyone a heads up that no B Line or D Line subway trains will be running from 9 p.m. Friday (Nov. 15) through the close of service Sunday between 7th/Metro Station and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

There will be regular B Line service between 7th/Metro and North Hollywood.

There will also be regular D Line service between 7th/Metro and Wilshire/Western.

The closure of the B/D Line in DTLA is to accommodate work to extend the D Line. We’re building a 9-mile extension to the Westwood/VA Hospital to the west (the first segment to Wilshire/La Cienega is forecast to open next year) and also expanding the subway rail vehicle yard just southeast of Union Station.

Here are transit alternatives for the B/D Line closure:

Riders traveling between Union Station and 7th St/Metro Center: Use the A Line, which you can reach on the upper level at 7th/Metro or the A Line platform at Union Station.

Riders traveling between Pershing Square and 7th St/Metro Center: A free shuttle bus will connect riders between these two stations.

Riders traveling between Civic Center/Grand Park and 7th St/Metro Center: Use the Metro A or E Lines to travel between Historic Broadway and 7th/Metro. The Historic Broadway Station is only one block from the B/D Lines’ Civic Center/Grand Park Station.

The Metro J Line bus and various Metro and municipal bus lines also provide connections between Union Station, Civic Center/Grand Park, Pershing Square, and 7th/Metro. Use Google or Apple Maps or the trip planner on metro.net to plan your ride.

  1. First, there is a spam post above.

Second, what exactly is the work being done for the extension (miles away) that needs the downtown line shut down?

Third, the new blog format makes it harder to know what is new since one last visited the blog. And it is anti good design for ADA compliance. The multiple sections with different sizes that are unbounded by lines or coloured zones is bad for people with ADD or ADHD. It draws their eyes every which way back and forth. Those same format issues can also cause people with dyslexia issues. Since the change to this format I have visited the site much less as it is difficult to use and the distracting format causes it to be disturbing.
