June was a big ridership month for Metro with 26.2 million rides on our buses and trains — compared to 23.8 million in June 2025. That’s a 9% increase.
Metro typically sees a seasonal dip in summer when schools are out. Instead, ridership went up in June with Metro providing service to FIFA World Cup events, concerts, museums and the LACMA Art Parade, Pride celebrations, the Hollywood Bowl and everyday destinations.
June was also the first full month of service to our three new D Line stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. D line ridership was up more than 45% overall and 70% on Saturdays compared to June 2024 (it was closed in June 2025 for work related to the extension).
Other highlights:
•Total June ridership increased on weekdays and weekends. Weekday ridership was 953,820, which grew 8.4% from June 2025; Saturdays increased nearly 13% year-over-year to 708,826, and; Sundays increased 7.7% to 611,534 from June 2025.
•Rail ridership in June was 6,561,484, a 21.8% year-over-year increase.
•A line ridership increased 22.1%, to 2,130,886 with the strongest growth on Saturdays at 30.4%.
•The B/D lines grew 29.2% to 2,051,884 and an impressive 45% growth on Saturdays.
•The C line increased 11.6% to 570,254 with a 19.3% increase on Sundays.
•The E line grew 16.5% overall to 1,542,032, with a 22.7% increase on Sundays.
•The K line increased 15.6% overall to 266,428 and 19.3% on weekdays.
•Bus ridership was up 6.8% year-over-year. The J line was up 11.7% year-over-year with many riders using the bus to reach World Cup events. Total bus ridership in June was 19,703,996.
The above numbers do not include ridership on the World Cup service to the stadium for matches run by Metro and our regional transit partners. We’ll be releasing those numbers soon!
