Poetry event Dec. 9 at Museum of African American Art celebrates arts and culture along K Line

Join Metro Art and poets Nikki Blak, Kamau Daáood, Cynthia Guardado, Ill Camille, Malaika Jules and Rhys Langston for an afternoon of spoken word and art about the neighborhoods along the K Line with We Are Here: Poetry Along the K. Artist féi hernandez will emcee.  

This free poetry event is at the Museum of African American Art on Saturday, December 9, at 2 p.m. and complements the exhibition Here: Arts & Culture Along the K, featuring artwork along the K Line. The museum is in Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, steps from the K Line. The exhibition is on view through Feb. 25. 

The poetry event and exhibition are free to the public. RSVPs for the event are recommended but not required and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event is wheelchair accessible and reserved seating is available for mobility support.

The Here exhibition honors what has been, what is present and what is possible in neighborhoods near the K Line.

Along with the exhibition, a companion publication celebrates arts and culture along the K Line through Metro Art commissions and collaborations. The publication is available for free at the museum, while supplies last. Some of the poets in the Dec. 9 event are also featured in the book.
