Last June, in a historic board decision, the Metro Board of Directors voted to create a dedicated, in-house Transit Community Public Safety Department (TCPSD). Over the next five years, we will be phasing in the new department according to a detailed implementation plan that includes appointing a Chief of Police and Emergency Management, developing procedures, and recruiting and training officers. But we want your input throughout the process! That’s why Metro’s Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) will host three community listening sessions over the coming weeks. In these sessions, you’ll be able to learn about the implementation plan and share your vision for what you’d like to see from our future Chief of Police and Emergency Management. What qualities, traits, and characteristics do you believe are essential to lead this new department? Your input will help shape the future of safety in our community.
