Have a say in Metro’s future: Join a listening session on agency governance

How should Metro be governed in the years ahead?

That’s the question a new Metro Board of Directors’ committee is tackling — and we want to hear from you.

Metro is hosting a series of listening sessions across L.A. County this April, along with additional opportunities to participate virtually. The goal is simple — we want to hear from riders, residents and stakeholders from every corner of L.A. County.

Here’s some quick background to help understand why we’re doing this: earlier this year, Metro Board Chair Fernando Dutra created an Ad Hoc Board Composition Committee to take a fresh look at how the Metro Board is structured. 

Since Metro’s creation in 1993, the Metro Board has been comprised of 13 voting members: all five L.A. County supervisors, the Mayor of L.A. and three mayoral appointees, and four members representing 87 other cities in the county.

In 2024, L.A. County voters approved Measure G, which in 2032 will expand the County Board of Supervisors from five members to nine — and create an elected County Chief Executive Officer that starts in 2028.
