Vans Warped Tour heads to Long Beach’s Shoreline Waterfront this weekend with a lineup that includes Hoobastank, Jimmy Eat World, Hepcat, Papa Roach and many more. Single and two-day passes are available.

KCRW Summer Nights takes over the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach
KCRW Summer Nights heads to Long Beach on Friday to take over the Museum of Latin American Art. DJs Tyler Boudreaux and Wyldeflower will be on the decks in the museum’s courtyard, and MOLAA exhibitions will be open for you to explore.

Jazz at LACMA: David Ornette Cherry Heritage Ensemble
Jazz at LACMA’s Friday evening series continues with the David Ornette Cherry Heritage Ensemble, celebrating the music of David Ornette Cherry and alums of his bands. It’s a free outdoor concert on the Wilshire corridor — one of the city’s great warm-weather traditions.

Aquarium of the Pacific Night Dive
The Aquarium of the Pacific gets in on the Warped Tour energy Friday night with a themed Night Dive featuring live bands at Blue Cavern, cash bars and after-hours access to the aquarium — no kids, just good music and marine life.

CAAM Creates with Design Hive offers a free gallery tour and art workshop inspired by Willie Birch
The California African American Museum invites visitors Saturday afternoon for a guided tour of Willie Birch: Stories to Tell, a sweeping career retrospective spanning the late 1960s to today. Gallery guides lead the tour before guests head into a hands-on art-making workshop exploring the exhibition’s themes.

KCRW Summer Nights moves downtown Saturday with a night at Grand Performances featuring live sets from Tijuana Panthers and Mariachi el Bronx, plus DJ sets from Leroy Downs. Free, outdoors and right in the heart of the city, this one is hard to pass up.

Go Fact Yourself LIVE brings pop culture trivia and special guests to Pasadena this Sunday.
LAist’s pop culture trivia show Go Fact Yourself goes live Sunday afternoon at The Crawford in Pasadena. Actress and activist Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and comedian and character actor Allan Havey are this week’s special guests.

The Hollywood Bowl will feature many concerts this summer. Here’s a quick guide on how to get there via Metro. More information can be found here.

The heat wave gripping Southern California isn’t done yet. Temperatures will remain in the 90s through the weekend under abundant sunshine, and the combination of heat and elevated humidity will make conditions feel even more uncomfortable than the thermometer suggests. Friday is expected to be the hottest day of the stretch, so take extra precautions if you need to be outside.
Heat advisories remain in effect for most coastal, valley and mountain areas, while an extreme heat warning is in place for the Antelope Valley floor. There is a 30 to 50% chance that extreme heat warning criteria could expand to additional areas on Friday.
Relief is coming, but gradually. High pressure shifts east early next week, allowing stronger ocean breezes to push inland and bring a return of morning low clouds and fog to coastal areas. Heat advisories are expected to come down by Monday. However, forecasters are already watching the potential for another round of heat by the end of next week, so stay tuned.
