Go Metro to avoid traffic Friday night and this weekend: things to do October 25-27

The jump-off for a busy weekend arrives Friday night with the Dodgers playing the Yankees in the World Series, USC football hosting Rutgers at the Coliseum and the Lakers playing at home.  

With large crowds expected for all the events – all along the 110 freeway in DTLA! – it’s a great time to go Metro and avoid the parking and traffic hassles. Good news: on Friday night, we’re adding more frequent rail service, so trains will run every 15 minutes on the A, B, D and E Lines after 8 p.m. Plan your trip with Apple or Google maps, the Transit or Moovit apps or using our trip planner.

Friday, October 25

The World Series 
The Dodgers are meeting the New York Yankees for the 12th time in the World Series — and the first time since 1981 when Blue won it all. The rivalry dates back to the Dodgers’ time in Brooklyn, and many players on both teams have shined on the sport’s biggest stage. Even better: the best player in baseball, Shohei Ohtani, is going to his first World Series in his first season with the Dodgers.  
Go Metro: The Dodger Stadium Express is running from the South Bay and Union Station — and will run as long as the Dodgers keep playing. For Games 1 and 2 (Friday and Saturday, respectively), the Dodger bus will start running at 2:08 p.m. from both Union Station and the South Bay.  
South Bay: Dodger Stadium Express stops at Harbor Gateway Transit Center, which is served by the J Line and other local buses. The Dodger bus also stops at the Slauson, Manchester, Harbor Freeway, Rosecrans stations along the J Line.    
Union Station is served by the A, B and D Lines, the J Line bus and many local bus lines.    
Parking: $8 at Union Station; free at Harbor Transit. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both lots. 

Los Angeles Lakers Basketball 
The new NBA season is underway and the Lakers host the Phoenix Suns at Crypto.com Arena. 
7 p.m. 
Go Metro: Take the A or E Line to Pico Station, which is a one-block walk from Crypto.com Arena in downtown L.A. The Metro J Line bus, as well as other local bus routes, also stop near the arena. 

USC Football 
The Trojans play Rutgers for the first time ever in the 8 p.m. match-up at the Coliseum on Friday night.  
Go Metro: The E Line’s Expo Park/USC and Expo/Vermont Stations are a short walk to the Coliseum. Also nearby is the J Line’s 37th St/USC Station. 

Boos and Brews 
Kickstart your weekend with some spooky good fun at Angel City Brewery with Boos and Brews. Get ready for a night of costumes, live performances, Halloween themed-beers, and special beer and candy pairings. FREE. 21+ only 
4 to 10 p.m., live performances start at 7 p.m.

Saturday, October 26

Día de los Muertos Art Festival at the Downey Theatre 
The Día de Los Muertos Art Festival in Downey is a family-friendly event with three stages of music and dance, showcasing ballet folklorico, Aztec dancers and musical artists. Come for the amazing displays in the Garden of Catrinas and Avenue of Altars on the theater plaza, and stay for the eats, treats and drinks. You’ll find local food trucks, a marketplace, storytime and face painting for the kids, as well as a beer and wine garden for the 21+ crowd.   
11 a.m. to 8 p.m. FREE

Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party 
It’s that time for the annual Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party! The spooky fun (for grownups only) includes DJ-spun tunes and a costume contest, plus food, drinks and shopping from Mao’s Bao, Atlaco Tacos, Rice & Nori, Softies Burger, Takoyaki TaNoTa, Yakipapis, Little Tokyo Taiyaki and Anime Jungle.

4 p.m. to midnight  
Go Metro: Take the A or E Lines to Little Tokyo/Arts District Station 

L.A. Kings Hockey 
After a long road trip to begin the season, the Kings play host to the Utah Hockey Club in a 1 p.m. Saturday game.  
Go Metro: Take the A or E Line to Pico Station, which is a one-block walk from Crypto.com Arena in downtown L.A. The Metro J Line bus, as well as other local bus routes, also stop near the arena. 

Saturday and Sunday

Marina Spooktacular  
Marina del Rey’s Marina Spooktacular is a Halloween-themed festival near the harbor, featuring carnival games, pumpkin decorating, DJ music, food trucks, a graveyard treasure hunt and more. FREE 
4 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Sunday, October 27

CAAMCon 2024 
California African American Museum is hosting a Black Comics Festival featuring a marketplace of Black-owned comics vendors, special panels and food trucks. The lineup includes a talk by New York Times best-selling author Roxane Gay, a hands-on zine-making workshop and a panel led by former Marvel comics artist, TJ Sterling.  
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. FREE  
Go Metro: Take the E Line to Expo Park/USC Station

One other note: we know there’s a lot happening in Inglewood on Friday night with David Gilmor at the Intuit Dome, the East-West game at SoFi Stadium and Jeff Lynne’s ELO at the Kia Forum. For those looking for a transit option, we have bus lines that serve the area:  

• Line 115 on Manchester Avenue
• Line 117 on Century Boulevard
• Line 212 runs on La Brea and Prairie
