Bike Month kicks off in May, and our region is in for a month-long celebration of this fun, healthy and quick way to get around town!
We have some exciting deals and promotions (with prizes!) happening this month. Keep reading to learn how you can participate and maybe win great prizes!
Thursday, May 21, is Bike Day, with FREE RIDES on all Metro trains, buses, bikes, and Micro services.
At Metro, we’re all about combining multiple transportation modes to get where you need to go. To make that easy, we’ve outfitted all our Metro buses withfront-loading bike racks. You are also welcome to bring bikes on board our trains. It’s a great way to experience the city from a new point of view.
- All train turnstiles will be unlocked, and bus operators won’t be collecting fares. No tapping required!
- Metro Micro riders can redeem free rides by using the Metro Micro app or browser. No promo code needed!
Try out Metro Bike Share with a free ride!
Metro Bike Share is a 24/7 bike rental service designed for taking short trips and connecting to transit. With 225 stations throughout Downtown and Central Los Angeles, the Westside, and North Hollywood, and 1,800 bikes in the fleet, there are many opportunities to give it a try!

Metro Bike Share will offer free 30-minute rides on Bike Day, Thursday, May 21, 2026. All riders can redeem them by selecting ‘1-Ride’ at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online or in the Metro Bike Share app, and by entering promo 052126 – this code can be redeemed multiple times throughout the day. A credit or debit card is required. Rides longer than 30 minutes are just $1.75 for each additional half-hour. Electric Metro Bike fees are waived. Temporary credit card holds may apply.
To find out about fun events that are planned for May, visit the Bike Share Events. For more details about Metro Bike Share go to metro.net/bikeshare.
Friendly Reminder: Customers should always properly return a Metro Bike to a Metro Bike Share station to end your trip. Never leave a Metro Bike unattended during a trip. Riders will be charged penalty fees up to $2,500 for missing or improperly docked bikes.
Metro Bike Lockers, Hubs and Sheds
Metro provides several bike parking choices, including Bike Hubs, Sheds, and Lockers, ensuring secure, affordable, and convenient storage for your bike while connecting to transit.
Metro Bike Lockers are the most secure and convenient way to park your bike at a Metro station. Each locker provides a fully enclosed, individual space to keep your bike protected.
Lockers can be accessed using the BikeLink app or by registering your TAP card, making entry simple and hassle-free. This keyless, on-demand electronic bike locker rental system offers convenient access for your ride and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Nearly 500 lockers are now available—find one near you for easy use. Locate one in your area at bikelink.org/maps. Rental fees are $0.75 for the first 12 hours.
Metro Bike Hub is safe, convenient and easy way to park and lock your bike on rack in a controlled-access facility. Your registered TAP card or the BikeLink app serves as your access key. The facility includes water refill stations and bike repair stands, providing convenient options for hydration and on-the-spot maintenance. Users are required to supply their own lock to secure their bicycles.
Bike Sheds offer the same overhead racks in an enclosed room to keep your bike safe and accessible. Unlike Metro Bike Hubs, sheds do not require TAP cards or registration into the BikeLink system to access. Sheds are a reliable place to park your bike indoors while you continue your trip, and users must use their own lock to secure their bike.
In May, we’re offering a special promotion. Load $5 onto your BikeLink account, park at one of the bike lockers and we will match your $5 –– giving you free parking credits!

Do you bike to work? You’re already ahead of the game. Starting May 1 and continuing throughout the month, bike commuters who log and track their trips on this Commute Calendar will be entered to win great prizes, including a commuter bicycle, folding bike, helmets, cycling gear, bike locks, gift certificates and MUCH MORE – over $3,500 in prizes!
