As many of you know, Metro is a big agency — our budget for the current fiscal year is $9 billion. We use that money to run our own bus and rail service, build new projects, fund other transit agencies in L.A. County as well as local mobility improvements.
To launch this year’s budget outreach process, we’re hosting a CEO’s Telephone Town Hall event from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 19. The town hall is an opportunity for us to listen and learn from our stakeholders, riders and the public on a number of our projects and programs – including efforts to reimagine public safety, our cleaning surge, the Metro Ambassadors pilot and, of course, improvements we’re making to our bus and rail service.
This Town Hall is also a chance to hear from Metro officials – and an opportunity for you to ask questions. Attending the meeting is easy: you can listen over the phone or online.
We’ll have two more Telephone Town Halls on other aspects of our budget in the coming months. There will also be considerable public outreach between now and next spring when we’ll release a draft budget for public review. That usually happens at the beginning of May followed by a public hearing and then the Metro Board of Director’s consideration of the budget at their meeting in late May.
