In October, we celebrate both Filipino American History Month and Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Filipino American History Month is celebrated in October because the first Filipino immigrants arrived in the United States on October 18, 1587. Now every October, we celebrate the many historical and cultural contributions that Filipino Americans have made in this country.

Disability Employment Awareness Month is also recognized in October to display the importance of bridging the gap of barriers in employment and honoring the work contributed by people with disabilities in the workforce. Metro is commemorating these months with brand-new TAP cards, available now at Metro Customer Centers and select TAP vending machines below*. TAP cards are $2 each plus the cost of fare, while supplies last! 

Metro will also be commemorating several more significant events and holidays through the end of the year with new TAP cards!
