Metro Youth Council was created to develop the capacity of young people to engage and participate in Metro’s projects, programs, and initiatives. The council is made up of 27 youth members who serve a 1-year term (January to December), attend monthly virtual meetings, participate in Metro events, and provide their perspective on various projects and programs.
Who can apply to join the Youth Council?
Anyone who lives in Los Angeles County and is between 14-17 years old
How can I apply?
Fill out an online application form at www.metro.net/youthcouncil beginning Tuesday, September 5th at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:00 p.m.
The application will the ask the following three written questions:
- Why do you want to serve on the Metro Youth Council?
- What are two or three important issues facing youth right now in your community and why?
- Tell us more about yourself or anything else you would like to share.

Metro Youth Summit on September 23, 2023
Metro’s Youth Council presents the Metro Youth Summit, an event by youth for youth! Youth interested in attending enjoy food, prizes, a DJ and 360 photo booth, plus exciting panel discussions, activities and more. This year’s theme is Traveling Sustainably, and how to explore LA’s best destinations while lowering your carbon footprint.
