Revised Measure M guidelines now available for public review and comment

The Measure M sales tax approved by Los Angeles County voters in 2016 requires some local jurisdictions to contribute three percent of the cost of new rail projects.

The Metro Board of Directors in 2017 adopted guidelines on how to implement this requirement. In February 2023, the Metro Board adopted several revisions to the Guidelines — and requested agency staff to draft several additional revisions.

The additional revisions clarify a few policies about what is considered an eligible contribution and expands the eligible funding sources to include Metro competitive grant funds.

Metro has posted these most recent revisions for public review and comment starting today through July 24. After incorporating public comment, the Board will consider approving the final Guideline revisions in September 2023.

The revised Guidelines can be found at https://www.metro.net/about/measure-m/
