Pride and Caribbean American Heritage Month Cards are Available Now

June is Pride and Caribbean American Heritage Month, and Metro is commemorating these events with two new TAP cards.
Caribbean American Heritage TAP cards are available only at Metro Customer Centers while Pride TAP cards are available at both Metro Customer Centers and select TVMs listed below.

June was officially declared as Pride month in 1999, in honor of the Stonewall Riots that took place on June 28th, 1969, in protest for gay liberation and LGBTQ+ rights, which are still being tirelessly fought for today. It is important that we recognize the burdens and battles that the LGBTQ+ community faces, as they continue to face discrimination and danger around the world.

June also officially became Caribbean American Heritage in 2006. Historical figures  that are from the Caribbean include Alexander Hamilton, W.E.B. Dubois, the first person of color appointed as the Secretary of State, Colin Powell, and our current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. This month is observed to celebrate the contributions of Caribbean immigrants to our country and to highlight their beautiful culture.

You can purchase both cards at Metro Customer Centers, and you can also purchase the Pride card at TVMs located at the rail stations listed below. Be sure to check the header on top of the TVM to ensure the card is available at that machine.  Cards are $2 each plus the cost of fare.
