Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month commemorative TAP cards now available

Metro is commemorating Jewish American Heritage and Asian Pacific Heritage Month with two new TAP commemorative cards that are both now available at Metro Customer Centers and select TAP vending machines listed below.

On April 20th 2006, May was declared Jewish American Heritage Month to highlight the importance and contributions of Jewish Americans in America. The month is dedicated to learning and understanding the culture and history of Jewish people and the value they bring to our society. It is important to know the hardships they’ve endured and celebrate their surviving heritage.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month focuses on educating people on the beauty and reality of their culture to combat harmful stereotypes. The first Japanese immigrants came to America on May 7, 1843, and our nation’s first transcontinental railroad was built and made possible by a large number of Chinese workers — who worked in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions. Asian Pacific Americans continue to contribute to our communities and nation in a myriad of ways.

Both cards are available at Metro Customer Centers and select TAP vending machines listed below. Be sure to check the header on top of the TAP machine to see which machines have the cards. Each card is $2 plus the cost of any fare added.

  1. The K Line station at Aviation/Century is still not in operation, the closest one for the K Line would be Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (Metro Customer Center)
