TAP wearables work just like a regular TAP card—you can reload Stored Value or passes using the same convenient methods to pay fare on Metro and 25 additional transit agencies. Register your TAP wearable to manage your account and protect your balance. TAP wearables expire after 5 years.

Great idea! very practical, though I wonder why they must expire after 5 years. That seems a bit unnecessary. Is it a limitation of the durability of the chip?
