The forecast is for a nice sunny day Sunday when CicLAvia hits Western Avenue for our region’s latest open streets event, easily reached via the E Line Expo/Western Station.
We recommend using the Transit app — Metro’s official app — to plan your trip. Get Transit for iPhones or Android phones here. Bikes are permitted on Metro trains — we just ask that you try to not block aisles or doors. A one-way fare on Metro is $1.75 plus $2 if you need a TAP card to hold your fare. There are TAP vending machines at all Metro Rail stations.
If you’re new to open streets, it works like this: three miles of Western Ave will be closed to motor traffic but very open to walkers, cyclists and rollers. Metro helps fund and promote open streets events for a few reasons: namely, they’re fun and community-minded events. Open street events such as CicLAvia also show there are ways to get around our region without a car.
There’s also plenty to do along the route. Take it away, CicLAvia:
Expect games, arts & craft-making, helmet giveaways, a pop-up vaccine clinic, and food trucks at CicLAvia–South LA! And be on the lookout for the roaming Snap Yourself photo booth to get a free glamour shot. Check out all the details on Sunday's event: https://t.co/lTgyW9GpHc
