Metro and the Metro Board of Directors every month honor employees who are stellar at helping keep our bus and train system running.
Please meet this month’s two winners — who accepted their award at their workplace from Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins.
In the top video, we honor Eleanor Orozco, a Senior Service Attendant at our Division 1 bus facility in downtown Los Angeles. Eleanor has been with Metro for 11 years.
In the bottom video, we honor Tamara Moten, a bus operator who works out of our Division 8 bus facility in Chatsworth. Tamara is a 24-year employee with Metro.
Thank you to all our Operations staff who work 24/7/365!
And this: Metro is currently hiring more than 500 bus operators and is offering a $3,000 bonus for coming aboard. This is a great career opportunity. Metro offers competitive hourly rates starting at $17.75 for a 30-hour job as bus operators with benefits that include health insurance, tuition reimbursements, paid training, retirement plan options and flexible working hours. Please encourage friends, family and community members to become a part of the Metro team that provides excellence in service and support and keeps our region moving. Apply at metro.net/driveLA.
As you may remember, earlier this month we celebrated Transit Operator Appreciation Day — and Supervisor and Metro Board Member Holly Mitchell brought a drum line to honor one of them. Check out the video:
Metro transit operators like Tanesha help more than 800,000 residents get to their destinations every day. Today on Transit Operator Appreciation Day join me in showing love to the over 3,400 women and men that keep our public transit system running. pic.twitter.com/Z7A9kTsnH1

The LA Kings also chipped in — in a big-time way to show some love for transit operators.
In honor of Transit Driver Appreciation Day earlier this month, the @LAKings provided Metro’s bus and rail operators who had good work attendance with tickets to a game! Thanks to our operators for their commitment to our riders! pic.twitter.com/cZwVszQUn8
