Metro to host interactive Telephone Town Hall Meeting on March 29 to discuss agency’s FY23 budget process

Metro will host a live, interactive Telephone Town Hall on Tuesday, March 29 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss its Fiscal Year 2023 Budget process, and invites the public to join the meeting.

Metro is continuing its engagement efforts for the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget process to give the public a more meaningful and authentic opportunity to engage and provide input on how its tax dollars should be spent. Two prior budget Telephone Town Hall meetings were held in the fall of last year. Metro wants to continue listening to members of the public about their ideas, priorities and concerns as the agency plans its annual budget and sets transportation priorities across L.A. County for the coming year. This meeting will be followed by additional opportunities for the public to engage in the coming months.

Metro will contact approximately 100,000 residents from across Los Angeles County through an innovative automated telephone system to participate in the public forum from the comfort of their own homes. When residents answer their phones, they will be connected to Metro’s English-language meeting automatically with the option for Spanish-language participants to select Spanish.

Telephone Town Halls will also include an option for participants to provide input through real-time polls in their designated language.

Participants can register in advance for Metro’s Telephone Town Hall meeting at https://tthm.wufoo.com/forms/metro-telephone-town-hall-signup/.

Alternately, the public may also join the meeting using the following phone numbers (please only call on the specific date and time of the meeting):

Budget Background
The Metro Budget represents a one-year snapshot that identifies the priorities, programs, and initiatives we will be pursuing in the year ahead. This begins with the Office of Management of Budget forecasting and estimating the resources available for the upcoming year, which is followed by an extensive schedule of outreach activities planned with key stakeholder groups, customers and the public. The Budget process will wrap up with a legally required public hearing in May followed by adoption of the budget a week later at the Metro Board of Directors’ May 2022 meeting.
