Today is International Woman’s Day — that means it’s time to celebrate the countless accomplishments and contributions women have made throughout American History! This year’s theme is ‘Break the Bias’ — a nod toward building a world free of world free stereotypes and discrimination.
March is also Women’s History Month — the reason Metro will soon release Women’s History Month commemorative TAP cards for purchase at Metro Customer Centers; stayed tuned to Metro’s social media and blog for when they’re available. Cards are $2 each, plus the cost of fare. The cards will be available while supplies last.
We also thought this was a good chance to highlight one of Metro’s efforts to expand opportunities for women — our Women Build Metro LA program to get more women into construction jobs. To learn more about opportunities in the construction trades, please visit www.metro.net/pla or call the Metro PLA/CCP Hotline at (888)-887-3674.
And below is a nice video reminder of the women who decades ago were at the forefront of creating more opportunities for women in L.A.’s transit industry.
