First Service Council meeting of the year tonight!

This month, all Service Councils will get updates on Metro’s LIFE (Low Income Fare is Easy) Program. They’ll also hear a report on service performance and a roundup of regional items of interest.

The San Fernando Valley, Westside Central, and South Bay Cities Service Councils will also receive an update on the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project. Last but not least, the South Bay Cities will recognize outgoing member Elaine Jeng and San Gabriel Valley will recognize former Service Council member/City of Arcadia City Council member Roger Chandler who passed away recently.

This month, all of the Service Councils will be held on their usual dates. January meetings in order of occurrence:

As mentioned earlier, one of the South Bay Service Council Members submitted her resignation effective in January. The South Bay Council of Governments (COG) has started the search for a replacement candidate. Service Council members serve three-year terms with no term limits. Annually, three of the seats on each Council expire on June 30. The COG is planning to fill the term of the departing Councilmember along with the usually annual nomination process for the three expiring seats which have a term of July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025.

If you’re interested in serving on the South Bay Service Council, submit a short bio and short explanation as to why you should be selected to Jacki Bacharach, Executive Director of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments at The COG has not yet set a deadline, but usually accepts applications through mid-March to allow time for the candidates to be interviewed before making their selection. Print Metro Bus Route Schedules should be available on all Metro buses as the new route schedules are now underway, and as riders are now preparing to TAP their tickets to ride — and the specific route schedules should be available on the buses that run that route, and the schedules of the important cross-routes! And the print schedules should be available at the buses’ rear doors as well as front doors for riders to pick up as they exit buses.

So, the point is that that department needs to improve its customer service, respectfully. I appreciate the discount, but, if the system is not working, then, what is the point.       • Thank you for your considerable attention. Please, note that I have received an email today confirming my application, but, I had also requested a tap card. The email, as per Metro Guidelines, was supposed to be sent to me 24-48 hours after the application was submitted online. Also, no TAP card has been mailed to me yet. The office needs to update their operation method so that they can effectively fulfill their tasks. Thanks anyways.

    Thank you for the information. I did apply to the life program on early December; But, did not receive my card; Nor, did I receive any notification update of my application. I have both called and emailed them, but, my emails are not replied back; Nor, do they call back to update me in reference to my application. Please, kindly, review the administrative aspect of the Life program as it seems like it is not functioning properly.
