Visitors to Union Station will be welcomed with poetry and flowers when Metro Art Presents Poetry O’ Clock, a pop-up poetry exchange in the historic Union Station Information Booth, this Friday, December 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Art Deco Information Booth will be thoughtfully transformed with flowers and site-inspired greenery by botanica brava. The reason?
To welcome you with poems, of course! Following its floral refresh, the booth will then become a temporary oasis for a live writing exchange between transit-riding passersby in the station and local poets Tanzila Ahmed, traci kato-kiriyama and féi hernandez.
Share something about yourself then walk away with a short, original poem hand-typed on-the-spot — a poem portrait of you, uniquely of the moment.
Here’s the schedule of poets:
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. — Tanzila Ahmed
3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. — traci kato-kiriyama
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. — féi hernandez
The poets are presented in collaboration with the venerable Poetry Society of America, which has worked with Metro Art on the popular Poetry in Motion bus poster series for more than 20 years.
