New and easy to fill out applications for low-income fare discounts are now online!

New easy-to-use applications for Metro’s Low-Income Fare Is Easy (LIFE) program are now available online and at Metro Customer Centers.

You can now also complete the application online — there are English and Spanish versions of the application.

With fare collection restarting on Metro buses on January 10, we are offering deep discounts on the price of our LIFE fares to help eligible riders save money and get where they need to go. Beginning Jan. 10 through late July, the cost to a LIFE rider for Metro passes will be:

•$26 for a 30-day pass (a savings of $50).

•$6.50 for a 7-day pass (a savings of $13). That’s less than a dollar a day for unlimited rides.

•New LIFE riders will get 90 days of free rides on Metro and participating transit systems starting January 10. After the 90 days of free rides expire, customers can purchase discounted LIFE fares.

•Until Jan. 10, LIFE riders can still take advantage of LIFE’s discounts on Metro and 12 other participating bus agencies in Los Angeles County.

We want all our customers to know that we’ve made LIFE applications much easier to fill out — it will only take you a few minutes.

Here’s what you need to know about tapping into big savings with our new LIFE application:

•All you need is basic info about you and each member of your household who is applying for a LIFE discount. You can take a photo of each of your IDs with your phone and upload them as part of your application.

•If you do not have proof of your income, you can self-certify your income on the application.

•If you do have documents, you can easily upload them with your application.

•If you don’t already have a TAP card, you can now ask for one on the LIFE application for yourself and each member of your household applying for LIFE discounts.
