USC football returns to LA with back-to-back action-packed games on Sept. 4 and Sept. 11 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The Trojans begin their regular season campaign on Sept. 4 by taking on the San Jose State Spartans, and it’s followed by the highly anticipated USC vs. Stanford game on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Metro will run extra E Line (Expo) service on game days with three-car trains every eight minutes before and after games. Expo/Vermont Station and Expo Park/USC Station are both a short walk to the Coliseum.
The J Line (Silver) runs from El Monte Station through DTLA and to Harbor Gateway Transit Center and San Pedro. Take the J Line to 37th/USC, which is about a 10-minute walk to the Coliseum.
Multiple bus lines also stop in the area — we recommend using Transit app to plan your trip. Additionally, here are some useful tips to help you Go Metro this football season:
- Load your TAP card with $3.50 stored value in advance to avoid waiting in line on return trip. Each 1-way trip includes free transfers to other Metro lines for up to 2 hours. Metro is not currently collecting fares on buses; regular fares apply on Metro Rail and other services.
- For safe and contactless payment, download the TAP app or add your TAP card to Apple Wallet.
- TAP cards are also available at TAP vending machines or Metro Customer Centers.
If you’re looking to park and ride from one of Metro’s many rail stations, get info here. There are both free and paid lots along the Metro system.
Reminder: masks are required on Metro. Please wear a mask when you ride.

The Silver Line bus (J Line) connection at 37th/USC station is historically unreliable. We were abandoned there at night a couple times by Metro. The bus never arrived a couple times. Several other times the bus was an hour late. Why would I trust it today?
