Metro is nearing the end of a year-long effort to revamp its Joint Development Policy. For those new to this program, Metro collaborates with developers to build transit-oriented developments on Metro-owned properties — often parcels left over from construction projects.
We now have a new Frequently Asked Questions about the program. We’ve answered many of your questions and there is more info about the Joint Development program in general.
The Joint Policy determines key aspects of Joint Development projects such as affordability levels for residential units built as part of the projects, land discounts, public space and key steps in the process such as developer selection and community outreach.
Metro released a Policy Paper in January which outlined potential tools we could deploy with the new Policy and hosted a “Metro Conversations” virtual event to update the community about changes under consideration and to collect input from the public.
The draft updated Policy is posted online for public review and you can provide feedback in the online survey and comment form until Tuesday, June 1.
Staff will next incorporate your feedback into the draft Policy and recommend the final Policy for adoption to the Board of Directors. You can hear the recommendation at the Board’s Planning and Programing Committee on Wednesday, June 16.
